  1. An Images field allows you to: Rename images by clicking the filename in the edit panel or in list view. Replace images, keeping metadata and filename (when possible) by dropping a new image on the thumbnail in the edit panel. Introduced here. But neither of these things is possible in File fields, which prompted this module. The way that files are renamed or replaced in this module is not as slick as in the Images field but it gets the job done. The most time-consuming part was dealing with the UI differences of the core admin themes. @tpr, gives me even more respect for the work that must go into AdminOnSteroids. Most of the code to support the rename/replace features is already present in InputfieldFile - there is just no UI for it currently. So hopefully that means these features will be offered in the core soon and this module can become obsolete. Files Rename Replace Allows files to be renamed or replaced in Page Edit. Usage Install the Files Rename Replace module. If you want to limit the module to certain roles only, select the roles in the module config. If no roles are selected then any role may rename/replace files. In Page Edit, click "Rename/Replace" for a file... Rename Use the text input to edit the existing name (excluding file extension). Replace Use the "Replace with" select to choose a replacement file from the same field. On page save the file will be replaced with the file you selected. Metadata (description, tags) will be retained, and the filename also if the file extensions are the same. Tip: newly uploaded files will appear in the "Replace with" select after the page has been saved. https://github.com/Toutouwai/FilesRenameReplace http://modules.processwire.com/modules/files-rename-replace/
  2. Uploading via the default file field when the size is on the larger side (like a song 374 MB; sorry to be so vague) seemingly very often freezes at 100%, never quite turning over, so I end up having to manually upload the file to the page assets dir. and update page field values in the database. Ring a bell for anybody? Any success in resolving this if so? It's much time lost. I don't work on live sites much, but from what I can recall this is true also in production. Thanks friends
  3. Hi folks, I'm trying to make a tool were I can upload zip files in the CMS and on the front you'll see the content in an iframe. The problem is that when I use the default 'file' field to upload and decompress the content of the zip, all the filenames are set to lowercase. I want the filenames that are 'zipped' exactly the same as the filenames that are decompressed in PW. Is there a way to change this?
  4. If you've ever needed to insert links to a large number of files within CKEditor you may have found that the standard PW link modal is a somewhat slow way to do it. This module provides a quicker way to insert links to files on the page being edited. You can insert a link to an individual file, or insert an unordered list of links to all files on the page with a single click. CKEditor Link Files Adds a menu to CKEditor to allow the quick insertion of links to files on the page being edited. Features Hover a menu item to see the "Description" of the corresponding file (if present). Click a menu item to insert a link to the corresponding file at the current cursor position. The filename is used as the link text. If you Alt-click a menu item the file description is used as the link text (with fallback to filename if no description entered). If text is currently selected in the editor then the selected text is used as the link text. Click "* Insert links to all files *" to insert an unordered list of links to all files on the page. Also works with the Alt-click option. Menu is built via AJAX so newly uploaded files are included in the menu without the page needing to be saved. However, descriptions are not available for newly uploaded files until the page is saved. Installation Install the CKEditor Link Files module. For any CKEditor field where you want the "Insert link to file" dropdown menu to appear in the CKEditor toolbar, visit the field settings and add "LinkFilesMenu" to the "CKEditor Toolbar" settings field. http://modules.processwire.com/modules/cke-link-files/ https://github.com/Toutouwai/CkeLinkFiles
  5. I was thinking about writing a module: Enabling PW to index and search contents of uploaded files. I know the easiest way to include search-inside-files capability is to use Google CSE. Developers who have a dedicated server may of course use of of the "big boys" of search like Lucene, ElasticSearch, Solr etc. For ES you'll need Apache Tomcat, which most people don't have at their disposal, etc. So, my question is, first of all: Would such a feature be used at all? I know you can create some sort of meta-search with file-descriptions, or when using the "one page per file" approach. After some brainstorming, I came up with this: Idea: Make it possible to search file upload content (PDFs, Word, Excel) Approach: Build a module (d'oh) Config settings: select templates / file-fields (what to index) - list all inputfields type "file" “index now” button or “index each time a file is added” or cron? Performance? Where / how to store indexes? As a separate, new field inside each page? On the file-system? In the module folder, each file has a related JSON file? (similar to language files) A new, separate DB-table? What we need: filename / path / URL filetype (to customize search results with file-icons) page id extracted content timestamp of last index-build? MD5/SHA hash or some such? How to handle user roles when doing actual search? Inherit from page? Inherit from file-field? So, what do you think? Not worth it? Does something like this already exist (I searched, but found nothing)?
  6. Hi folks, I published a new tutorial today which explains how to make a simple download function with ProcessWire (tested with version 3.0+). You find the tutorial on my website https://jensmartsch.de/blog/simple-file-downloads-with-processwire/ Basically this is based on my post here in the forums
  7. I have been looking up everything I can to try to find what's going wrong with this. I have a very simple form (title and file field set to multiple) that will create a new page with the name and attachments. However, it appears that I am missing something crucial as only 1 item gets uploaded to the field. Here is my code: <?php $uploadpage = new Page(); $uploadpage->template = "dashboard"; $uploadpage->parent = $pages->get("/testing/"); $uploadpage->title = $sanitizer->text($input->post->new_title); $uploadpage->save(); $uploadpage->setOutputFormatting(false); $u = new WireUpload('test_upload'); $u->setMaxFiles(6); $u->setOverwrite(false); $u->setDestinationPath($uploadpage->test_upload->path()); $u->setValidExtensions(array('jpg', 'jpeg', 'gif', 'png', 'pdf')); foreach($u->execute() as $filename) { $uploadpage->test_upload->add($filename); } $uploadpage->save(); ?> I have the max files set to 6, and have a foreach loop to add the files, but it is only uploading one. Does anyone see where I might have gone astray?
  8. Pressing problem at initial posting: I am working on a module that runs/previews (for pub/unpub) imports on importer page view. The template has to be in site/templates, so far as I know, so one is created there on install which includes a file to run from within the module, but then when it's run and tries to read the importer csv file it cannot, since it's in the admin, I guess... Is it possible to set the template page to a file in the module directory? Will that work? https://bitbucket.org/chimmel/pw-import-everything
  9. In page-edit mode, it would be nice to have an optional download-button for inputfield type file. i.e. when a user has uploaded two dozen files (perhaps through the frontend), and someone else needs to download these from the backend all at once, without having to open an FTP client. There would simply be a download link / button, and a ZIP would be generated on the fly, containing all files. If someone has an idea how to do that (a hook?), I'd be all ears
  10. Hello, today I've tried the following: Use .htaccess to rewrite the url conditionally if an image file was not found. Rewrite target was http://www.this-is-the-live-system.com/site/assets/files/$1 I guess that would work out great. Unfortunately Processwire checks to see if the file exists and outputs an error message in the Page Editor. An option to disable this check would be great. (Similar to $config->debugIf = '::1'; or something) It would be great being able to just use the live database locally without broken images all over the place. I guess this might be a simple good enough solution for most use cases.
  11. Hello everyone. I have strange things happening when I want to edit Site translation files. When I try to edit files I got error: " Session: File does not exist: /site\templates\include\footer.inc (translation file not needed? textdomain: site--templates--include--footer-inc) " Here I noticed strange division on left. Somehow it is change direction. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening, and can cause this error?
  12. Hello There PW fans and users. I Thought i share something that i came up with a while ago when i decided to adopt the teachings in this guide: MaintainableCSS This guide has made my development much easier cause i allways was stressed about having all code in one giant file and jumping around trying to keep everything organized and clear. So i decided to go with modules, as i call them, having all the CSS belonging to a specific module in one file, and also the responsive media querys that belongs to the module in the same file. Now... so far so good. Turns out that there is a 31 file limit in browsers to how many files you can load with css. And also i wanted to make less HTTP requests, so i started thinking, and came up with a simple PHP script that i run on my PW site in a hidden template and when that PHP script runs, it combines/compiles or merges the CSS module files together to one giant file that i link to in my website header. This way, there is one HTTP request for all the CSS that runs the site, minus some third party stuff. Lets look at the PHP script <?PHP /* EyeDentifys CSS File combiner. v1.0 Array of essential files - update as needed. We do this to ensure the order of how the files are combined. You can have as many CSS module files here as you want. Remember that the combined file is compiled in the order they are placed in the array. Remember to check all the paths so they reflect your setup before use. And also, the combined file is overwritten without notice when you re-combine. */ $cssModules[] = 'module_global.css'; $cssModules[] = 'module_table.css'; $cssModules[] = 'module_forms.css'; $cssModules[] = 'module_layout.css'; /* init vars */ $str = ''; $moduleCount = 0; $errorCount = 0; $listFiles = ''; /* add a string with the latest update time and date to the top of the combined file */ $dateStr = date('Y-m-d H:i:s'); $str .= '/* Combined file last updated at ' . $dateStr . ' */' . PHP_EOL; /* go through modules and concatenate them in a string var */ foreach($cssModules AS $key => $module){ /* check if the file exist */ if(file_exists('css/modules/' . $module)){ /* read file data */ $str .= file_get_contents('css/modules/' . $module); /* add module count - used for output in template */ $moduleCount++; /* add the file to list */ $listFiles[] = '[' . $module . ']'; } else { /* if the file do not exist add it to the "do not exist" list */ $listFiles[] = 'Error - file [' . $module . '] do not exist!'; /* increment error count */ $errorCount++; } } /* render the combined css */ echo('<h2>Combined CSS</h2><pre class="code-view-pre">' . $str . '</pre>'); /* list combined files */ echo('<h2>Combined files</h2>'); echo('<ul class="unstyled-list">'); foreach($listFiles AS $key => $file) { echo('<li>' . $file . '</li>'); } echo('</ul>'); echo('<p>Number of file errors <strong>' . $errorCount . '</strong> st.</p>'); /* the file name defaults */ $combinedFileName = 'css/combined_styles.css'; $backupFileName = 'css/backups/backup_styles_' . date("Y-m-d_H-i-s") . '.css'; /* backup the old combined file before updating it */ copy($combinedFileName, $backupFileName); echo('<p>Backup created to file: <strong>' . $backupFileName . '</strong></p>'); /* create update the combined css file */ file_put_contents($combinedFileName, $str); echo('<p>Combined css file: <strong>' . $combinedFileName . '</strong> updated!</p>'); echo('<p><strong>' . $moduleCount . '</strong> files combined.</p>'); ?> Like i said above, i have this in a hidden Template file that i run when logged in as ADMIN. I just refresh the page everytime i made a change and uploaded to the server so the new changes is combined into the big file and can be seen on the website. My script assumes the following directory structure: 1. This is where the script looks for the module files: templates -> css -> modules 2. This is where the script saves the combined big CSS file: templates -> css 3. This is where the script saves a backup of the current big CSS file before creating and writing over the new big file: templates -> css -> backups You need to go through the script and change the hardcoded paths to suit your needs before use. Also please try this out at some test site first so you get the hang of it. Be safe. This way of dealing with alot of CSS code has realy made my life much easier. Cause if i want to change some modules CSS i just open that file, make the changes, upload the module, and run the script and its compiled in with the other CSS in the big file. I am sure you creative fellows on the forums can make refinements to this code, but it has served me well. Hope it helps someone.
  13. Hello Forum, I am relatively new to processwire and have been playing around with some simple websites so far with it. I love the simplicity and the straight forward approach to it. I felt "at home" right away! =D The only thing, I just can not get done is implementing a simple post-form in a template. (front-end) I want to get registered users to create content via a simple form. Yes, there are several tutorials in this forum. BUT: I want the file upload to look like the upload in the back-end: - multiple upload - rearrange order of files Is that hard to build? It should be "there"... or do i need to install a module like https://processwire.com/talk/topic/12050-module-jquery-file-upload/ I would like to build it with core functionality. What do you guys think? Can you point me into the right direction? Cheers Stephan
  14. Setup: PW version 2.7.1 dev template cache is disabled Chrome Canary is opened with disabled cache and in inkognito view mode When I make a change to a template file (say the basic home.php) I want to immediately see that change after refreshing the browser. Example: This is the content of home.php: <?php echo "bla"; I browse to the root page and see the "bla" output. I change the code to <?php echo "bla1"; and save the file. After that I immediately reload the page in the browser and I don’t see the change to "bla1". Only after multiple browser reloads (at times also more than 20 reloads) and "hard" reloads does the change appear. What I tried to do: set $config->dbCache, $config->sessionFingerprint and $config->sessionChallenge to false in config.php delete all sessions re-save the page in the ProcessWire backend and reload the browser page completely delete the browser history (cookies, cache, everything) after the first visit to the page Nothing helped. Questions: Can someone replicate this behavior? What can I do to achieve the desired behavior? Thanks a lot in advance for any help.
  15. Is it possible to upload zip file, unarchive it with save it structure? Thanks!
  16. Hi. I've just started using ProcessWire and the first issue I encounter is the lack of possibility to upload files to pages. I can upload images, but not files. I've tried to find an answer in the Forums, but with no success. What to do? Kind regards Hyldig
  17. Working on a site at the moment with lots of PDF downloads and was wondering how you handle these? In my ProcessWire projects so far, each PDF has generally be restricted to a single page. I normally create a field called Files and reference that in any CK Editor links. The problem I realised is that when one of these PDFs needs replacing, my client needs to remember every page where the PDF is referenced. With this site I'm currently building, I have multiple pages referencing the same PDF(s). In the CK Editor modal for linking files, I can of course choose a different page where the file "lives". I'm starting to wonder though if I should create a virtual Files directory which would simply be a container page with each sub-page representing and named after a file. This way, when my editors need to replace a file, they just need to replace and update in a single location. Any known cons of doing it this way?
  18. On the site for a game development collective I'm part of, I've been trying to add the ability for our developers to attach game builds from Unity (a 3D game engine and development environment) to blog posts. Unity cranks out an HTML file with everything ready to go for static hosting, so I've simply added a file field in the blog post template that accepts the four files Unity exports, one of which is jquery.min.js. Obviously, this is highly redundant, having the content author upload another copy of jQuery with each build, but it's actually a more streamlined workflow than the alternative of building a standard Unity player template, which would then require the author to create an additional page in ProcessWire each time to attach the Unity file. So I've gone with this redundant but easy approach. However, I've run into a technical snag: Even after explicitly allowing "min.js" files for the field, the file uploader always renames the jQuery file to "jquery_min.js", which is then not found by the HTML file looking for the original name. Is there a way to disable this behavior?
  19. Hello, Not sure I'm in the right section. I've just noticed something. In site > assets > files, there are folders apparently named after the id of the page in which the images are inserted in the admin. I'm developping a website locally this time, with version 2.5.0 now after an upgrade. It is the same for the first gallery rendered (before the upgrade) on it's own page and for the second gallery that've I've just rendered on the parent page of the page in which the images are inserted in the admin. For the first "gallery", the code is: foreach($page->children('include=hidden') as $child) { $thumb = $child->images->first()->width(320); echo "<a href='$child->external_url' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'><img src='$thumb->url' width='$thumb->width' height='$thumb->height' /></a>"; } (I've just updated this gallery code from width='320' height='200' to width='$thumb->width' height='$thumb->height') For the second gallery, it is: foreach($pages->get(1032)->images as $image) { $thumb = $image->width(90); echo "<a href='$image->url'><img src='$thumb->url' width='$thumb->width' height='$thumb->height' /></a>"; } For the first gallery, there are these versions: the original version (640x400), the .320x0.png version (320x200), in two folders a .300x212.png version (300x187 - perhaps old images with dimensions that I tested...(?)), and a .0x100.png version (160x100). For the second gallery, there are these versions: the original version (640x480), the .90x0.jpg version (90x68), and again a .0x100.jpg version (133x100). Where can I disable the creation of this .0x100.jpg version, in which file, is it "normal"? Thanks in advance !
  20. Hey guys, Not sure if any of you have had this issue before but I have some file upload front-end forms where the client is able to add new files, replace, update etc. Recently they have been having problems where some files when being replaced are failing (they become 0kb) - up until now I've been trying to figure out the pattern to produce this and it seems to be when replacing the existing file with a file with the exact same filename. Can anyone think of a PW or PHP reason why this might cause a problem? If not, I'm guessing it's something within the form code... Thanks.
  21. I think it would be a nice idea to add an image/field count to these inputfields. Something like below, where it says '(12)'. For me this would be a handy little addition.
  22. Hi guys, Hope you're all doing well. I haven't ever really considered secure files before on a PW installation but am currently trying to convert an unsecure system (the folders and files already exist) to a secure one. I've updated config.php to enable secure files and left the default "-" as the prefix but am a bit confused as to what is supposed to happen now. Are the folders supposed to be renamed automatically (doesn't seem to be the case at present) or is this something that only applies to new files? EDIT: Doesn't appear to be adding the prefix for new files either. Can someone tell me what the default behaviour is supposed to be here as I'm unsure whether this is the issue before I get any further. Thanks.
  23. Hi, today I installed a fresh copy of Processwire (2.4 dev) and now i wanted to upload some files and images on a page. when i select the files the ajax-upload works as expected (although there are no thumbnails). but after saving the page the input field is empty again and the files are gone from the page. in the filesystem the files are still existent. do you have any idea what could cause this problem? thanks! EDIT: when i turn on the console, I see the following error: POST http://localhost:8888/cms/page/edit/?id=1025 500 (Internal Server Error) InputfieldFile.js?v=107:252 uploadFile InputfieldFile.js?v=107:252 traverseFiles InputfieldFile.js?v=107:287 (anonymous function) InputfieldFile.js?v=107:297
  24. Hi everyone, I'm working on a project where users can upload images, using a jquery uploader (no $_FILES input in the form) : - User select images - Images are uploaded in a specific folder After that, how can i attach the images to a page ? I took a look to wireupload() but it seems to need a $_FILES input. Thanks for you help
  25. The resume uploads fine, but everytime I try to access it, it says "this page is not intended for direct access". How would I make it so that link opens the file?
