File Mover Allows the selection of files or images for moving or copying to a different field. The destination field can be on the same page as the source field or on a different page. Screencast For convenience in the screencast this demonstration shows moving and copying images and files between fields on the same page, but you can also move/copy between pages by following the same process. Usage In any Images or Files field, hover on the field label to show the File Mover icon. Clicking on the icon will reveal the File Mover buttons. If no items are yet selected you'll see a button labelled "Select items to later move or copy". Click the button to enter selection mode. While in selection mode, click one or more images/files to select them. When you have finished selecting items click the "Done" button. Note: you can only select from one Images and one Files field at a time before completing the move/copy step. In the Images or Files field that you want to move/copy the items to, hover the label to show the File Mover icon and click it to reveal the File Mover buttons. When you click the Move or Copy button the page will automatically be saved and the selected items will be moved or copied accordingly. There is also a button to clear the current selection if needed. If you hover on any of the buttons a tooltip shows the filenames of the currently selected items, in case you need a reminder. Configuration There is a field in the module config that defines which roles are allowed to use the File Mover module. If the field is left empty then all roles are allowed. https://github.com/Toutouwai/FileMover https://processwire.com/modules/file-mover/

Media Lister Lists images and files from across the site in a sortable and filterable table. For images you can choose between table, small thumbnails and large thumbnails view modes. The module retrieves the data using SQL queries so is able to efficiently list media information for all but the largest of sites. Possible use cases: Check that a nice variety of banner images is used for top-level pages. Find duplicate files/images by sorting by filesize or filename. Find images without descriptions if this is important for use in alt tags. Find large PDF files that would benefit from optimisation. Check for "inappropriate" images, or images that are not "on-brand". Images in small thumbnails view mode Files saved as a bookmark Controls Media type: Choose between Images and Files. View mode: When listing images you can choose between small thumbnails, large thumbnails and table view modes. When in one of the thumbnail view modes you can see information about the image in a tooltip by clicking the "i" icon, or edit the page containing the image by clicking the pencil icon. From pages matching: This field allows you to add filters to limit the pages that the media will be listed for. Add bookmark: Superusers can add bookmarks for the current settings that will be available from the flyout menu for all users. See the bookmarks section below for more information. Column visibility: Choose the columns that appear in the table and in the information tooltip (when in thumbnails mode). Search: Quickly filters the results to show only items that have the search text in any column, whether the column is visible or not. Custom search builder: For more advanced searches where you can combine conditions for specific columns with AND/OR logic. Pagination: You can navigate through the results and set the number of results per page. Reset: Click the "Reset" button at the top right to return to the default settings for Media Lister (or for the current bookmark if applicable). Editing the page that contains the media For any media result click the link in the "Page" column to open the page that contains the media item in Page Edit. When in thumbnail view mode you can click the pencil icon to achieve the same thing. The field that contains the media item will be focused. When a media item is contained within a Repeater field this is indicated by an asterisk at the start of the page title. When opening Page Edit for a media item within a Repeater field the Repeater item will be automatically expanded, including for nested Repeaters. Limitations for values that are merged in the database The module has limited support for multi-language values and custom fields for images/files. In order to be efficient enough to handle large sets of results the module retrieves raw values from the database, and in the case of multi-language values and custom field values ProcessWire stores these in JSON format in a single database column. The module improves the display of this JSON data by extracting the uploadName value into a separate column, substituting custom field labels for field IDs, adding language names where possible, and by transforming the data into a quasi-YAML format for better readability. Some limitation remain though – for example, if you use Page Reference fields in the custom fields then only the page IDs are displayed. Bookmarks Superusers are able to create a bookmark for the current Media Lister settings by expanding the "Add bookmark" field, entering a title for the bookmark, and clicking the "Add bookmark" button. Bookmarks will be visible to all users from the flyout menu. You can delete a bookmark from the module config screen. Module config In the module config screen you can define defaults for controls such as media type, view mode, pagination limit and column visibility. You can also delete bookmarks from the module config screen. https://github.com/Toutouwai/ProcessMediaLister https://processwire.com/modules/process-media-lister/

Hello There PW fans and users. I Thought i share something that i came up with a while ago when i decided to adopt the teachings in this guide: MaintainableCSS This guide has made my development much easier cause i allways was stressed about having all code in one giant file and jumping around trying to keep everything organized and clear. So i decided to go with modules, as i call them, having all the CSS belonging to a specific module in one file, and also the responsive media querys that belongs to the module in the same file. Now... so far so good. Turns out that there is a 31 file limit in browsers to how many files you can load with css. And also i wanted to make less HTTP requests, so i started thinking, and came up with a simple PHP script that i run on my PW site in a hidden template and when that PHP script runs, it combines/compiles or merges the CSS module files together to one giant file that i link to in my website header. This way, there is one HTTP request for all the CSS that runs the site, minus some third party stuff. Lets look at the PHP script <?PHP /* EyeDentifys CSS File combiner. v1.0 Array of essential files - update as needed. We do this to ensure the order of how the files are combined. You can have as many CSS module files here as you want. Remember that the combined file is compiled in the order they are placed in the array. Remember to check all the paths so they reflect your setup before use. And also, the combined file is overwritten without notice when you re-combine. */ $cssModules[] = 'module_global.css'; $cssModules[] = 'module_table.css'; $cssModules[] = 'module_forms.css'; $cssModules[] = 'module_layout.css'; /* init vars */ $str = ''; $moduleCount = 0; $errorCount = 0; $listFiles = ''; /* add a string with the latest update time and date to the top of the combined file */ $dateStr = date('Y-m-d H:i:s'); $str .= '/* Combined file last updated at ' . $dateStr . ' */' . PHP_EOL; /* go through modules and concatenate them in a string var */ foreach($cssModules AS $key => $module){ /* check if the file exist */ if(file_exists('css/modules/' . $module)){ /* read file data */ $str .= file_get_contents('css/modules/' . $module); /* add module count - used for output in template */ $moduleCount++; /* add the file to list */ $listFiles[] = '[' . $module . ']'; } else { /* if the file do not exist add it to the "do not exist" list */ $listFiles[] = 'Error - file [' . $module . '] do not exist!'; /* increment error count */ $errorCount++; } } /* render the combined css */ echo('<h2>Combined CSS</h2><pre class="code-view-pre">' . $str . '</pre>'); /* list combined files */ echo('<h2>Combined files</h2>'); echo('<ul class="unstyled-list">'); foreach($listFiles AS $key => $file) { echo('<li>' . $file . '</li>'); } echo('</ul>'); echo('<p>Number of file errors <strong>' . $errorCount . '</strong> st.</p>'); /* the file name defaults */ $combinedFileName = 'css/combined_styles.css'; $backupFileName = 'css/backups/backup_styles_' . date("Y-m-d_H-i-s") . '.css'; /* backup the old combined file before updating it */ copy($combinedFileName, $backupFileName); echo('<p>Backup created to file: <strong>' . $backupFileName . '</strong></p>'); /* create update the combined css file */ file_put_contents($combinedFileName, $str); echo('<p>Combined css file: <strong>' . $combinedFileName . '</strong> updated!</p>'); echo('<p><strong>' . $moduleCount . '</strong> files combined.</p>'); ?> Like i said above, i have this in a hidden Template file that i run when logged in as ADMIN. I just refresh the page everytime i made a change and uploaded to the server so the new changes is combined into the big file and can be seen on the website. My script assumes the following directory structure: 1. This is where the script looks for the module files: templates -> css -> modules 2. This is where the script saves the combined big CSS file: templates -> css 3. This is where the script saves a backup of the current big CSS file before creating and writing over the new big file: templates -> css -> backups You need to go through the script and change the hardcoded paths to suit your needs before use. Also please try this out at some test site first so you get the hang of it. Be safe. This way of dealing with alot of CSS code has realy made my life much easier. Cause if i want to change some modules CSS i just open that file, make the changes, upload the module, and run the script and its compiled in with the other CSS in the big file. I am sure you creative fellows on the forums can make refinements to this code, but it has served me well. Hope it helps someone.

Hey all, I've looked at some other threads and github issues, but didn't find what I was looking for: https://processwire.com/talk/topic/21616-file-upload-inside-custom-module/ https://processwire.com/talk/topic/619-what-does-it-mean-destinationpath-is-empty-or-does-not-exist-upload_file/ https://github.com/processwire/processwire-issues/issues/885 I'm on PW version 3.0.165. I have a module using InputfieldFile to upload a CSV, then move it to a unique filename within a subdirectory in the module. Then it processes the CSV into a db table. That's actually all working smoothly, except I still get error messages on upload "destinationPath is empty or does not exist [field label]" and "Missing required value [field name]" Below is the relevant code. A couple notes: 1. I have both `required` and `requiredAttr` set because I wanted to avoid them clicking submit without selecting a file (it's happened, haha). I've tried turning those off and it fixes the second error "Missing required value" but not the first one about destinationPath 2. I can't seem to debug the $destination created by tempDir(), because I think it is removed when the request ends, but I presume it must be working OK because the CSV file ends up in the `/.uploads/` directory I specify, and is processed into a database table. 3. `/site/assets/cache/` directory is chmod 0777 and owned by "nobody" (yes, I know, I need to tighten this down :) Thanks for any assistance! Worst case I guess I can tell them to ignore the red message since it is actually working. <?php $destination = $this->files->tempDir($this)->get(); // debugging shows $destination = /site/assets/cache/WireTempDir/.ProcessMemberScorecard/0/ $form = $this->modules->get('InputfieldForm'); $form->attr('action', $this->page->url . 'upload-scores'); $form->attr('enctype', 'multipart/form-data'); $wrapper = new InputfieldWrapper(); $wrapper->importArray( [ [ 'type' => 'file', 'name' => 'scores_upload', 'label' => 'Scores File', 'description' => 'Select a CSV file to upload', 'required' => true, 'requiredAttr' => true, 'icon' => 'upload', 'extensions' => 'csv', 'destinationPath' => $destination, 'maxFiles' => 1, 'maxFilesize' => 10 * 1024 * 1024, 'noAjax' => true, 'descrptionRows' => 0, ], // additional checkbox fields, not relevant ] ); $form->append($wrapper); if ($this->input->requestMethod('POST')) { $form->processInput($this->input->post); $ul = new WireUpload('scores_upload'); $ul->setValidExtensions(['csv']); $ul->setMaxFiles(1); $ul->setOverwrite(true); $ul->setDestinationPath($this->config->paths($this) . '.uploads/'); $dt = new DateTime(); $tmpname = bin2hex(random_bytes(8)); $ul->setTargetFilename( sprintf('%s-%s.csv', $dt->format('Y-m-d'), $tmpname ) ); $results = $ul->execute(); if ($errors = $ul->getErrors()) { foreach ($errors as $error) { $this->error($error); } return $form->render(); } if (!$results) { // older, probably not needed since both required and requiredAttr are set $this->error('Please select a CSV file to upload'); return $form->render(); } // handle processing at this point, // then redirect to the next step where user confirms // the final result } .

An Images field allows you to: Rename images by clicking the filename in the edit panel or in list view. Replace images, keeping metadata and filename (when possible) by dropping a new image on the thumbnail in the edit panel. Introduced here. But neither of these things is possible in File fields, which prompted this module. The way that files are renamed or replaced in this module is not as slick as in the Images field but it gets the job done. The most time-consuming part was dealing with the UI differences of the core admin themes. @tpr, gives me even more respect for the work that must go into AdminOnSteroids. Most of the code to support the rename/replace features is already present in InputfieldFile - there is just no UI for it currently. So hopefully that means these features will be offered in the core soon and this module can become obsolete. Files Rename Replace Allows files to be renamed or replaced in Page Edit. Usage Install the Files Rename Replace module. If you want to limit the module to certain roles only, select the roles in the module config. If no roles are selected then any role may rename/replace files. In Page Edit, click "Rename/Replace" for a file... Rename Use the text input to edit the existing name (excluding file extension). Replace Use the "Replace with" select to choose a replacement file from the same field. On page save the file will be replaced with the file you selected. Metadata (description, tags) will be retained, and the filename also if the file extensions are the same. Tip: newly uploaded files will appear in the "Replace with" select after the page has been saved. https://github.com/Toutouwai/FilesRenameReplace http://modules.processwire.com/modules/files-rename-replace/

Hi everyone, Yesterday I began working on a module to create a filesystem abstraction for files and images using the Flysytem library (http://flysystem.thephpleague.com), out of the necessity of having the images copied (and probably linked) on Amazon S3 and other places like Dropbox. There two reasons why I decided to tackle this: 1 - When I work on the project on my machine, I need a way to automatically sync the images from the server and/or the external storage. When an image is added on the server and the database is imported on my local env, PW shows a blank thumbnail of it. The idea for the module if to check if the page image has a width == 0 and if it exists on the server, add it to the local filesystem. 2 - In the past, I had to move a large website to a different server in a hurry and a lot of images were left behind (it was a mess). So I'm planning for a possible future worst-case scenario of the server exploding ? The code I quickly wrote is below (please bear with me that it's pretty raw at the moment). One thing I had to figure it out is why PW fires the Pageimage::size hook wherever a page is loaded in the admin, even though the thumbnails are already created. I was planning to save the image variations on S3 as well. Can someone clarify? I know that @LostKobrakai was working on a similar project, and so I would like to ask him and everyone else if you think I (and who may help) should evolve this idea into a full-featured module where the user can select which server (adapter) to use (AWS, Digital Ocean spaces, Dropbox etc.) <?php namespace ProcessWire; use Aws\S3\S3Client; use League\Flysystem\AwsS3v3\AwsS3Adapter; use League\Flysystem\Filesystem; use League\Flysystem\Adapter\Local; use Spatie\Dropbox\Client; use Spatie\FlysystemDropbox\DropboxAdapter; class ProcessFly extends WireData implements Module, ConfigurableModule { public static function getModuleInfo() { return array( 'title' => 'ProcessWire Flysystem Integration', 'version' => 001, 'summary' => 'Synchronize all the page assets uploaded through PW to a specified bucket in Amazon S3 and...', 'author' => 'Sérgio Jardim', 'singular' => true, 'autoload' => true, 'icon' => 'image' ); } public function init() { $this->client = S3Client::factory([ 'credentials' => [ 'key' => '', 'secret' => '', ], 'region' => 'sa-east-1', 'version' => 'latest', ]); $this->bucket_name = ""; $this->dir_name = "images"; $this->s3_adapter = new AwsS3Adapter($this->client, $this->bucket_name, $this->dir_name); $this->s3_filesystem = new Filesystem($this->s3_adapter); // DROPBOX $this->authorizationToken = ""; $this->dropbox_client = new Client($this->authorizationToken); $this->adapter_dropbox = new DropboxAdapter($this->dropbox_client); $this->dropbox_filesystem = new Filesystem($this->adapter_dropbox); $this->addHookAfter('Pages::saved', $this, 'checkImageS3'); // Download images that are not in local filesystem for whatever reason but are available in the remove one. $this->addHookAfter('InputfieldFile::fileAdded', $this, 'uploadImageS3'); // Fired when a file/image is added to a page in the admin // $this->addHookAfter('Pageimage::size', $this, 'uploadImageS3'); // Fired when a file is resized via API. Note: this hook is also called when the page is loaded in Admin. Need to know why. $this->addHookAfter('Pageimage::url', $this, 'redirectImageURL'); //Replace image URL for the S3 path } public function redirectImageURL($event){ if($event->page->template == 'admin') return; else $event->return = "https://s3-sa-east-1.amazonaws.com/[bucket name]/images/" . $event->object->page . I have a need for users to be able to put in a search term and for Processwire to return a PDF file matching that term. It isn't complicated, if they put in 088 then I need to return a PDF named 088.pdf. My question is, how do I do that in Processwire without having to make a page for every PDF? There will be hundreds of them and they will all be updated each year. Ideally I would like for the file to be served from the file system, not the database. Do I just bypass Processwire for this and use straight PHP? If so, how do I use a processwire template for the look of the site, but use PHP for filesystem access and returning file paths? Thanks.

Hi there, I created a files field which is already populated with images and videos. this field functions as the data for a slideshow. which works fine. but i need to resize the images, which does not work because the files field doesn't allows the ->size command. Is there any way to seperate the images in the files field in order to resize them? edit: i already tried to create a new pageimage: $image = new Pageimage($page->images, $slide->filename); which results in an error: Aw shucks… Fatal Error: Uncaught TypeError: Pageimage::__construct(): Argument #1 ($pagefiles) must be of type Pagefiles, null given, called in <u>site/templates/basic-page.php</u> on line 19 and defined in <u>wire/core/Pageimage.php</u>:162 Thanks alot! Hi, One of our clients, an art fair, uses the formbuilder plugin to gather applications from artists. Artists fill a form with a pdf of their work in order to apply. As one of the artists complained, the problem is that their file (managed by the formbuilder plugin) is public and referenced by Google. The url looks like "https://www.../form-builder/?view_file=...". Is there a way to protect the file or a least prevent it being referenced by Google ? Thanks !

Hey guys, I was doing some file renaming and stumbled upon the following problem: rename() renames only the physical file itself but in the Admin backend it still shows up under its old name. Can anyone point out for me what I am doing wrong, please?

Hi, I was searching in the forum about a method how to remove a file extension, like .jpg, but couldn't find anything. There are some php methods out in the wild, but I wanted first to get sure, that Processwire is offering a solution. The background is, that a clients website has a lot of images, packed in different galleries. All image files contain the name, dimensions and other stuff about the image (painting). I want to echo the image name in the image tag. thanks

Hi, I am trying (wondering if even possible) to set a very different file folder path for my PW install. The path I want to set exist in the same server, but in another domain. Can the PW API see that far into file system? It is a shared hosting environment so no permission management options available. Also can this be achieved through .htaccess redirection? If you request a file (images mostly, but translation json files are important too) from `domain-A.com/site/assets/files/` to grab them from `domain-B.com/site/assets/files/`? I would prefer to do this through PW API, I can see the function `$config->setPath()` but it didn't work when set in config.php like `$config->setPath("files", "/domains/domain-B/public_html/site/assets/files/")`. Is there some other option to do this? My ultimate goal is to have two PW installs on different domains but one is just a "mirror" that is using the same database as the other and should use the same files structure if editors upload any images to the main (domain-B.com) website. I could use domain parking function but it then needs a more expensive SSL certificate for two domains , which I am trying to avoid if possible ? (I'd like to use single domain Let's Encrypt certificates, thus I need to PW installs). Would appreciate any insight! Thanks!

Hi all I need help with something. Situation: We have let's say 2'000 Files (Excel) that should be displayed (list with links) on a page. We'd need to filter these files by given Keywords or a tree structure or both. Now, I'm looking for a solution whereas our customer can synchronise the files from his local computer with the folder on the webserver. They will update and upload files on a daily basis. Therefore, it would need to synchronise rather than load the files manually in pages or repeaters. Maybe indexing would be an idea, too. Are there any modules for Processwire that would help achieving this? Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Hello all, wasn't sure where to put this, so it goes in General section. Ryan shows a hook that we can use to mirror files on demand from live server to development environment to be up to date with the files on the server without having to download complete site/assets/files folder. I just implemented this but had problems getting files to load from a site in development that is secured with user/password via htaccess. First I tried to use WireHttp setHeader method for basic authentication like this function mirrorFilesfromLiveServer(HookEvent $event) { $config = $event->wire('config'); $file = $event->return; if ($event->method == 'url') { // convert url to disk path $file = $config->paths->root . substr($file, strlen($config->urls->root)); } if (!file_exists($file)) { // download file from source if it doesn't exist here $src = 'http://mydomain.com/site/assets/files/'; $url = str_replace($config->paths->files, $src, $file); $http = new WireHttp(); // basic authentication $u = 'myuser'; $pw = 'mypassword'; $http->setHeader('Authorization: Basic', base64_encode("$u:$pw")); $http->download($url, $file); } } But, unfortunately this didn't work. So now I am using curl to do the download. My hook function now looks like this function mirrorFilesfromLiveServer(HookEvent $event) { $config = $event->wire('config'); $file = $event->return; if ($event->method == 'url') { // convert url to disk path $file = $config->paths->root . substr($file, strlen($config->urls->root)); } if (!file_exists($file)) { // download file from source if it doesn't exist here $src = 'http://mydomain.com/site/assets/files/'; $fp = fopen($file, 'w+'); // init file pointer $url = str_replace($config->paths->files, $src, $file); $u = 'myuser'; $pw = 'mypassword'; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 50); // crazy high timeout just in case there are very large files curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "$u:$pw"); // authentication curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPAUTH, CURLAUTH_BASIC); // authentication curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FILE, $fp); // give curl the file pointer so that it can write to it curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, true); $data = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); } } Now I can load files and images from the htaccess protected development server ? If anyone knows how to get this to work with WireHttp, please let me know. Thank you.

In page-edit mode, it would be nice to have an optional download-button for inputfield type file. i.e. when a user has uploaded two dozen files (perhaps through the frontend), and someone else needs to download these from the backend all at once, without having to open an FTP client. There would simply be a download link / button, and a ZIP would be generated on the fly, containing all files. If someone has an idea how to do that (a hook?), I'd be all ears

If you've ever needed to insert links to a large number of files within CKEditor you may have found that the standard PW link modal is a somewhat slow way to do it. This module provides a quicker way to insert links to files on the page being edited. You can insert a link to an individual file, or insert an unordered list of links to all files on the page with a single click. CKEditor Link Files Adds a menu to CKEditor to allow the quick insertion of links to files on the page being edited. Features Hover a menu item to see the "Description" of the corresponding file (if present). Click a menu item to insert a link to the corresponding file at the current cursor position. The filename is used as the link text. If you Alt-click a menu item the file description is used as the link text (with fallback to filename if no description entered). If text is currently selected in the editor then the selected text is used as the link text. Click "* Insert links to all files *" to insert an unordered list of links to all files on the page. Also works with the Alt-click option. Menu is built via AJAX so newly uploaded files are included in the menu without the page needing to be saved. However, descriptions are not available for newly uploaded files until the page is saved. There is an option in the module config to include files from Repeater fields in the edited page. Nested Repeater fields (files inside a Repeater inside another Repeater) are not supported. Installation Install the CKEditor Link Files module. For any CKEditor field where you want the "Insert link to file" dropdown menu to appear in the CKEditor toolbar, visit the field settings and add "LinkFilesMenu" to the "CKEditor Toolbar" settings field. http://modules.processwire.com/modules/cke-link-files/ https://github.com/Toutouwai/CkeLinkFiles

Hi all, Hopefully there's somebody who can help me with an issue while unzipping files. My goal is to show banners in a portfolio. In ProcessWire I have created a field, type 'Files', where I can upload the .zip files, one at a time. I've selected the option Decompress ZIP files, but any subfolder in the .zip somehow disappears. For example the 'assets' folder is gone after I uploaded the .zip file (see the attachment for the file structure). I'm curious, is there a way to preserve the file structure inside a .zip file after unzipping it? Kind regards, Remco

Hi all. We've created a private log-in area for a client on their site that is restricted on a roles basis. Is there a simple solution available to let them upload files to a file field and then choose individual users that can access individual files? Does that make sense?!... it's hard to search for answers to this as all results pertain to server file permissions.

Hello everyone. I have strange things happening when I want to edit Site translation files. When I try to edit files I got error: " Session: File does not exist: /site\templates\include\footer.inc (translation file not needed? textdomain: site--templates--include--footer-inc) " Here I noticed strange division on left. Somehow it is change direction. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening, and can cause this error?

Uploading via the default file field when the size is on the larger side (like a song 374 MB; sorry to be so vague) seemingly very often freezes at 100%, never quite turning over, so I end up having to manually upload the file to the page assets dir. and update page field values in the database. Ring a bell for anybody? Any success in resolving this if so? It's much time lost. I don't work on live sites much, but from what I can recall this is true also in production. Thanks friends

I was thinking about writing a module: Enabling PW to index and search contents of uploaded files. I know the easiest way to include search-inside-files capability is to use Google CSE. Developers who have a dedicated server may of course use of of the "big boys" of search like Lucene, ElasticSearch, Solr etc. For ES you'll need Apache Tomcat, which most people don't have at their disposal, etc. So, my question is, first of all: Would such a feature be used at all? I know you can create some sort of meta-search with file-descriptions, or when using the "one page per file" approach. After some brainstorming, I came up with this: Idea: Make it possible to search file upload content (PDFs, Word, Excel) Approach: Build a module (d'oh) Config settings: select templates / file-fields (what to index) - list all inputfields type "file" “index now” button or “index each time a file is added” or cron? Performance? Where / how to store indexes? As a separate, new field inside each page? On the file-system? In the module folder, each file has a related JSON file? (similar to language files) A new, separate DB-table? What we need: filename / path / URL filetype (to customize search results with file-icons) page id extracted content timestamp of last index-build? MD5/SHA hash or some such? How to handle user roles when doing actual search? Inherit from page? Inherit from file-field? So, what do you think? Not worth it? Does something like this already exist (I searched, but found nothing)?

Hi folks, I'm trying to make a tool were I can upload zip files in the CMS and on the front you'll see the content in an iframe. The problem is that when I use the default 'file' field to upload and decompress the content of the zip, all the filenames are set to lowercase. I want the filenames that are 'zipped' exactly the same as the filenames that are decompressed in PW. Is there a way to change this?

Hi folks, I published "Simple file downloads with ProcessWire tutorial" today which explains how to make a simple download function with ProcessWire (tested with version 3.0+). Basically this is based on my post here in the forums

I have been looking up everything I can to try to find what's going wrong with this. I have a very simple form (title and file field set to multiple) that will create a new page with the name and attachments. However, it appears that I am missing something crucial as only 1 item gets uploaded to the field. Here is my code: <?php $uploadpage = new Page(); $uploadpage->template = "dashboard"; $uploadpage->parent = $pages->get("/testing/"); $uploadpage->title = $sanitizer->text($input->post->new_title); $uploadpage->save(); $uploadpage->setOutputFormatting(false); $u = new WireUpload('test_upload'); $u->setMaxFiles(6); $u->setOverwrite(false); $u->setDestinationPath($uploadpage->test_upload->path()); $u->setValidExtensions(array('jpg', 'jpeg', 'gif', 'png', 'pdf')); foreach($u->execute() as $filename) { $uploadpage->test_upload->add($filename); } $uploadpage->save(); ?> I have the max files set to 6, and have a foreach loop to add the files, but it is only uploading one. Does anyone see where I might have gone astray?
