  1. Welcome Jurgen, This is precisely the same situation I had when I came across Processwire having used Contao before. I never looked back. As Martijn says: The API is a relieve.
  2. Hi Jonathan, sounds like a great plan - and the quality of the demo video is fantastic. Me personally I'm still curious to learn more about the technique behind your processmarks app: But that's off topic of course ...
  3. Hi, I'll continue testing tonight. Will be occupied with other tasks during the day unfortunately. Sent via mobile.
  4. Hi Adrian, thanks for your reply. I assumed so but was unsure. Thanks for clarifying. This is what I tried out in the meantime: clean, untouched PW install import the blog profile from the zip you posted earlier in this thread. Choose home as parent -> perfect working blog, script added /blog/ and the appropriate children to the page tree import WP-XML, parent = /blog/, import everything, append, import dates = true, edit content = false -> all posts, categories, tags are there but categories are not assigned to posts and all post dates are today. Page tree as before. For me this is perfectly good - more than I ever expected. I'll give this a go now with the site I'm working on (keep my fingers crossed ...) and adjust the template styling to my needs. Thanks again!
  5. Nico, did try on a clean install just a few minutes ago. Got an error. See screenshot. Got posts, categories and tags imported. Testing.
  6. Nico, not sure if we shouldn't open a new thread for that. Maybe moderation can do this in case this is the wrong place to discuss the WP importer. However, I did try first on a clean install - with the same result: Only posts, nothing else. Therefore I thought it might have to have the blog profile first in order to install the functionality required. Do I understand you right, that it - if everything works - the module may not only import the data from WP but will also "install" all required code to run a blog? Thanks!
  7. Hi adrian and nico, many thanks for your quick and kind replies. Glad that my feedback could be helpful. Unfortunately the XML file is customer data, otherwise I would give it to you for testing purposes. @nico no, it didn't import the categories neither the tags. I first imported the blog profile successful giving me tags and categories and than the WP-XML. But it left the categories and tags pages untouched.
  8. Adrian pointed me to his great module today because I have to migrate a WP blog to PW. I managed to import Ryan's blog profile and with Nico's extension the posts from the WP install. Unfortunately neither comments nor categories and tags made it from WP to PW - only the posts. Upon export I chose posts->all, categories->all, status->published. I checked the XML file and all data is there as it should but wasn't completely imported to PW. Any ideas? Many thanks!
  9. hi adrian, tried it quite successful and left my feedback in the main thread. https://processwire.com/talk/topic/4420-page-list-migrator/page-5
  10. adrian, wow, didn't know about that. could save me a lot of time. i'll try it out. thanks.
  11. Hi Forum, I'm working on a new corporate website which has to integrate a blog that is currently running as a stand-alone-blog under Word Press. The WP-blog has categories, pagination, archives by year and month and comments. My first idea was to use Ryan's blog profile but it is much to feature rich for this particular blog and its MVC approach doesn't play nice with my setup for the corporate site. What is your opinion on the best way to do this? Would you strip down the blog profile to what is needed or start from scratch with something like Joss' news-system and build archives etc. yourself? (https://github.com/jsanglier/Pw-News/blob/master/newsfunctions.inc) As ever, time and budget is limited :-( Thanks for your thoughts

  13. glad you got it working. alternative download link (bottom of the page): https://contao.org/en/manual/3.0/installation.html#configuring-the-live-server
  14. You may use a script developed for Contao open source CMS to check the hosting environment: https://github.com/contao/check If the script reports that you need the so called "safe mode hack" most likely your ./site/assets/ and ./site/config.php won't be writeable. In this case you need to set permission to 777 (not recommended) or (depending on hosting environment) switch to FastCGI via .htaccess.
  15. mark a file, cmd+i, check the according checkbox (sorry, don't know what it is named in English) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bettersnaptool/id417375580?mt=12 it's worth the 1,99. The funny thing is, that it brings MS Windows functionality to the Mac - finally.
  16. Sorry folks if I miss the point here, but @alexmercenary why don't you simply use a template without template file for your children? From my understanding of what you want to achieve that should do the trick. Sent from mobile
  17. You can easily simulate an ipad with Respondr: http://respondr.webhoard.net/# Or use Chrome Dev Tools (see screenshot).

    2048 anyone?

for those of you with too much time, check this out: http://www.flatvsrealism.com/
  19. Hi, nice site. Hope they will have success. The stuff, our children get at day nursery and/or primary school can be unbelievable bad: http://neverseconds.blogspot.de/ However, the text could be more straightforward in my opinion. As I see it, it's much to much text and somehow kind of "amtsdeutsch" (can't translate, sorry. "Type of complicated language spoken by officials" maybe). Maybe you can iterate over it and make it more appealing? Just my 2 cents.

    Macaw

I constantly found, that cleaning the mess of WYSIWG-tools is more effort than starting from scratch with my own code. I would be surprised, if this would be much different ...
  22. Very nice and professional site - wow. Two details though: I don't understand why "Im Notfall" (Emergencies) lives under "Aktuelle Meldungen" (News) and I would better like to understand at first glance, that the person pictured on the front page is the doctor herself. She looks pretty much like her assistants (green shirt etc., compare with the person under "Aktuelle Meldungen"), which imo is a disadvantage in healthcare, where personal trust in the doctor is the strongest asset.
  23. @Manfred62 many thanks for looking so closely. Inserted the missing br and put the phone number issues on my to do list.
  24. I do, but have a disclaimer that I can't guarantee for full functionality - in particular if the site is responsive. I need to support it because of my healthcare clients - as others have already pointed out.
