  1. I have read that article before but it didn't really persuade me either way since there are not a whole lot of other alternatives. Also Opencart has improved since then with a new version and at the same time nothing out there is perfect. @Yannick Do you have some other suggestions for an e-commerce site that needs a decent amount of products and features and is open source? I have tried Prestahop & woocommerce. As far as building an online shop I found Opencart to be a better alternative than either of them.
  2. Any website that promotes Processwire will always be of benefit and helpful by encouraging others to try out Processwire that are looking for a cms. But for me the best way is to focus on making Processwire the best it can be and everything else will follow. There are still many other areas of Processwire that can be improved on and when that is done and focused on I think Processwire will speak for itself. In my experience though admittedly I haven't built websites for businesses larger than 10 staff is that if you do your job properly and come across as someone who knows what they are doing the buyer of your service will be more than happy to let you make the decision on what is best for them as that's one of the points of hiring an expert in the first place.
  3. Trying this myself I get the following in processwire errors.txt file: 2015-03-02 05:35:42 ? http://localhost/?/%C2'> Error: Call to undefined method User::setIsLoaded() (line 325 of C:\xampp\htdocs\sites\opencart\pr\wire\core\Pages.php)
  4. The second error you showed using other relative urls would be because you used incorrect urls. Regarding the internal server error: I also just tried this with Opencart (using the correct relative path) and also got an internal server error.
  5. I didn't try it yet but for anyone that is interested there is a new e-commerce platform just released today as open source called Mothership. "Mothership is open source web retail software, combining e-commerce with Electronic Point Of Sale (EPOS) into a single, unified platform. It is based on over 10 years experience, yet it is entirely new, containing zero legacy code, making it a perfect platform for developers." http://mothership.ec/
  6. It is possible that they just don't have anyone expert enough in Processwire at the moment to create such a course. Though it would be interesting to see if there was a change in attitude if some of us started creating and selling Processwire site profiles on themeforest.
  7. I will do just that. My son will be very happy.
  8. I mentioned this a while back here https://processwire.com/talk/topic/8486-supporting-processwire-module-authors/ but there didn't seem to be much interest in this. I haven't currently released any modules but appreciate others that have taken the time to make and support them and have at times wanted to give at least some beer money to the authors. I think it helps to keep the spirit of open source alive and gives appreciation to those that have used their own time to share and support their modules.
  9. @kongondo This looks great. Have you done any more work on this?
  10. I am using it on a larger screen. I can imagine that on a small laptop screen there might be some issues with space if page width is set to 100% and both columns are kept visible on each side. Thinking about it using Pinegrow on a smaller screen might be like driving a hummer down small country roads. Doesn't mean a hummer isn't fun on wide highways though. Maybe there will be an option in the future to put at least one or both side columns at the bottom of the window.
  11. @gebeer I will report back once I have played around with it a bit more. At the moment Pinegrow is my little playground that I go to when I have time to play. Pinegrow has the effect of making you feel like a kid again.
  12. Interesting. How exactly were they forced to have the site converted? If they want Wordpress why not just let them have it? If they are forced to use Processwire for the reason that Processwire provides a particular feature that Wordpress doesn't then I would think the answer lies there. If there are constructive and genuine beneficial reasons for moving over to Processwire then the improvements should be naturally clear to see.
  13. I think it can be very useful. It is also possible to write your own a PG plugin for it. I am currently working on one for my own framework/grid system cutegrids as an experiment. I have just purchased Pinegrow (a bargain at $49.99) and will delve into it further. I also like what Matjaz(the developer) is trying to do and full respect to anyone that takes on adobe. It seems that there will be a lot of exciting features coming in the near future including a developer version which I am looking forward to. Other features coming soon such as support for converting static HTML to WP themes might not get the die hard Processwire users very excited but still an interesting prospect.
  14. Regarding frameworks I found this video. Are CSS Frameworks Bad? I agree with a lot of what he says. Also the point of Speed Speed Speed...
  15. Web development is moving fast, well more than fast, lightening speed. I think the days of hand coding everything from scratch will soon come to an end if it hasn't partly already. Not that it is not the best way to do things but when dealing with clients it is about time and money unless the client wants to pay for something really unique and doesn't mind waiting. When I first started out I wanted to hand code everything even if it already existed but as soon as building websites turned into something that I made a living from then money divided by time pushed me to find new ways to be efficient and if a tool helps me to do that then great.
  16. I have found that building sites with other cms's in the end it is often a case of trying to somehow remove all the other parts in the admin that are not needed. With Processwire it is the total opposite. When building the website the parts that are needed are just naturally built up in development with no added clutter or unneeded features to confuse the client.
  17. I don't normally like wysiwyg web editors or any other similar tools out there but I stumbled upon Pinegrow and I have to say wow. It is useful in so many ways. Description from Pinegrows: 'a desktop app that lets you build responsive websites faster with live multi-page editing, CSS styling and smart components for Bootstrap, Foundation, AngularJS and other frameworks.' Check out the video below for a quick introductory look at it: Just wanted to share this with anyone that thinks this can help their workflow.
  18. It does have one. Well works for me: http://processwire.com/blog/rss/
  19. @joss Yes that would be a good way of putting and would also gain more respect. I know what you mean by some WP users & WP promoters. It is often stated by them as a matter of fact that Wordpress is the best without even trying anything else.
  20. Great stuff but I do think that some might accuse cms critic of being a little biased though I do totally agree with the result. But saying that cms critic is probably in a better position than most to make such a judgment after testing and using so many content management systems.
  21. This is an option from phpjabbers which would integrate easily into Processwire. http://www.phpjabbers.com/hotels-booking-system/
  22. Just seen an announcement that Prestashop has launched the Prestashop cloud, a FREE fully hosted version of Prestashop that claims you can start selling online within minutes for free. I wonder if this will be a game changer. You can go to the link below to create a store. Prestashop
  23. My personal experience has shown me that the challenge with starting out with anything is knowing the right questions to ask. None of us know everything but when you get to a certain level you become an expert at knowing what questions to ask then the ability to find the answers to those questions becomes that much easier.
  24. Yes, I can see there does seem to be a bit of spamming from them going on using the #processwire hashtag and understand the point that people might think we are not very friendly starting wars all over the tech world like some CMS blood thirsty warriors though I do think we could turn it to our advantage by posting great comments such as Charles, Joss and Matthew have already done. That way people will see that we are quite a friendly bunch with the added advantage of informing others that click through their tweets what a great CMS Processwire is.
