  1. Yes we can still keep a copy of fireworks for the very reason that the Creative cloud was not around before. What would happen today if Adobe discontinued one of their products? Would I need to keep paying a subscription to keep using a non updated software if they even kept it in the creative Cloud? Or they could just remove it from the Creative Cloud totally with no possibility to use it again. I think at the very least Adobe should have open sourced Fireworks to let others carry on developing it.
  2. pwired. Since Adobe dumped Fireworks and started the Creative Cloud(please lock me in) I am trying my best to break away from the chains of Adobe.
  3. I just stumbled upon Gravit, an open source design tool. it is still in Beta but I think it has potential. gravit.io/
  4. WordPress vs. ProcessWire. May the battle commence.. Maybe you should have a bell ringing at the start and end of each video like a boxing match. ROUND 1...
  5. I see Processwire as an open system and don't see any reason why not. I don't think there are any rules saying that if there is a paid module that someone else can't also release a free module that is similar. If that was the case I would start to feel a little worried about how open processwire is. I think there can be benefits to having both free and paid modules. For example Ryans modules have full support and updates from him which can be seen as a huge benefit over a free module so a free module might not always be the first choice over a paid module. Also some of the more richer users of Processwire will want to pay up the money for a paid module to support Processwire on top of the advantages of paying for a fully supported module from Ryan. I understand why you asked the question and I have wondered before what the reaction of Ryan and the community would be to free modules that do a similar task to any paid modules. My opinion is that it is only healthy for the community to have free and paid options even if they do similar things. Of course it would be interesting to hear Ryan's personal feelings on this.
  6. A few days to go until Apple launch the new iOS 8 with the ability to add duckduckgo as the default search engine Maybe duckduckgo won't take a big chunk out of google yet but maybe Bing Can DuckDuckGo Overtake Bing
  7. Thanks adrian and horst. I will checkout those links.
  8. Hi I want to Fully support retina devices for an image gallery but not sure of the best way to do this in processwire. I want this to be as simple as possible for the admin with 2 images produced after one is uploaded. One for normal and one for retina screens. Then pull the correct image depending if the screen is a retina screen or not. I am interested how others here support retina screens in processwire especially with an image gallery.
  9. @Macrura Yes, That would be helpful. How do I set it up to create the desired effect. Is this what you are talking about? https://gist.github....ea20b46e706a6f9
  10. Thanks Macrura. I will look into that. Would it be possible to add an option whereby adding a child to the parent is also added to the pageTable but only when the template is connected with the PageTable. So a child would only be added to pageTable when it's template is also a pageTable template.
  11. I think that pwired and horst have made some good points regarding the possible impact on the forum. Regarding online communities I have to say that the Processwire forum is the best I have seen and very valuable. I was just thinking today this place is better than the pub.
  12. In the end just put the child pages in a specified parent and moved it under Admin. Now nicely hidden.
  13. teppo, I totally agree. I couldn't have said it better. Also I don't see why 2 ways of doing things can't coexist. After all isn't that the point of Processwire that we are open to build things with as much flexibility as possible. I don't see anything wrong with having other options especially if it raises Processwire profile. I can't wait for the day I never hear "Can't you build that in Wordpress". I think that what Nico is working on or something similar can only help Processwire and also developers that use Processwire if only that it raises Processwires profile.
  14. Yes, I can understand your point about confusing brand values. A profile project might be the way. But I think if done correctly the 2 worlds could coexist. I think there are a few different ways that this could be done. Maybe a module could be the way. A choice could be made to include this on install for those that that want to install standardised themes. A special directory could be made for such themes.
  15. The main point that 'Wordpress Defenders' as I like to call them seem to make is that wordpress has a simple way to install out of the box themes for the frontend of the site. I can understand this point especially for non technical users that want to build and control their site themselves and switch to any out of the box theme of their liking fairly quickly. But imagine for a moment what the Wordpress Defenders elite would say if there were 2 Processwire versions. One as Processwire is now for developers and designers open to all possibilities(my preference) and one version that included a template system that was built for easily changeable themes that also had the power of the original core processwire to add on customisations as needed. I am not sure if this is really possible but it is an interesting concept.
  16. Regarding pageTable as quoted with the comment and answer below: I am using pageTable and also see an issue with there being some confusion in some cases with the way child pages are listed whether as children of the page with pageTable or under a specified parent. I think that the editor would most likely think that they can add a new child page manually which would not appear in the PageTable field. Sure it can be pushed to a specified parent but it could still create confusion. Does anyone know of a better way to deal with this? Is there a way to disable a new child page being manually added under a specified parent where the pageTables pages are stored but still able to add them on the page with pageTable field?
  17. For anyone that has the map hidden initially before being opened resulting in bad rendering of the map. I tried the following that was mentioned here on this post but with no success. After a while(2 hours ) scratching my head I changed it to the following: setTimeout(function() { google.maps.event.trigger($("#mgmap1")[0], 'resize'); mgmap1.map.setCenter(mgmap1.options.center); }, 250); Now works perfectly.
  18. Pwired mentioned this before but I just checked the home page so didn't see it. I see now that it was on all pages except the home page. There was conditional there and I accidentally put the ending script tag outside. All sorted now. Thanks Pwired & neildaemond for bringing it to my attention.
  19. Here is a screenshot of the admin for the table. It consists of tables for each service category. They are then joined together in the page to make one price table separated into different service sections.
  20. I agree and think it is something that is possible if the time and effort is put into it. For me this is one area and advantage that other cms's such as Wordpress with Woocommerce have over Processwire. Maybe something like woocommerce could be taken as an example of how to do it. I dream of the day that Processwire has such an E-commerce solution so I don't have to look outside of Processwire.

    World Cup 2014

I was about to say the same thing. That is crazy. No way did Messi deserve it. Messi didn't even look like he broke a sweat. I think Robben deserved it. He played well above Messi.

    Processwire and SEO

For me it is summed up mostly in 3 words. 'Content is King'. This should be number 1 priority. Sure all the other things matter such as page speed, responsiveness, no keyword stuffing etc... but content of your pages will matter more than anything. I found that half the time it doesn't matter what meta title or description I put now. If it doesn't match the page content enough or to the liking of google then king google will change the title and description in the search and insert what they think is best for you.. Concentrate on page content and SEO will take care of itself.

    World Cup 2014

Yes, Sometimes I think it would be better to have a replay when it comes to this stage of the world cup rather than penalties. Maybe even tell the teams that if neither win then neither team goes to the final. The quarter finalist losers could then have a play off to play in the final. That would give them a kick to not hog the ball all the time and play safe.
