Here is slightly modified version of the slides I showed at the meetup. Lot's of interesting stuff coming soon! pw-meetup.pdf6 points

Cool. It's well tested on IE9 - majority of our Windows are still using it. I'll support the same browsers Ryan supports with the default theme. If that means IE8 support (grrr.), then I'll do it.2 points

You could just test the page's created user against the current user. Using your code: if($input->post->delete) { $deletePage = $input->post->delete; $id = (int) $deletePage; //sanitize post value to integer $p = $pages->get($id); //get this one page whose ID was sent over using its delete button $title = $p->title; // TEST IF THE CURRENT USER IS THE PERSON WHO CREATED THE PAGE if($p->createdUser == $user){ $p->trash(); echo '<div data-alert class="alert-box success radius"> The post ' . $title . ' was successfully deleted! <br><br><a href="/profile" class="button small secondary" style="color:#000;">CONTINUE</a> </div>';//there are better ways to check! } else{ .......DO SOMETHING ELSE HERE } } I do think these posts should try to stay along the lines of the original topic, so as to not clutter this very useful thread.2 points

Everfreecreative: great post, you really said it there. Posts like that should not fade but pinned as one of the first posts e.g. in faqs. Copied your post link and changed old title Newbies first starting questions into starting newbies and designers. https://processwire.com/talk/topic/4173-grouped-forum-posts-links-articles-tutorials-code-snippets/2 points

I know how it works, I worked if a couple of companies that not being too big had the same kind of policy, more by laziness than any other reason. I understand that we, as service providers can't change that and have to adapt to the circumstances, but that doesn't mean that I understand how it is possible that, after so many years and even after microsoft themselves stopped supporting these browsers, they are still being used. Whenever I go to a bank or state department and they use a IE browser in a XP machine to access my personal data all my body shivers...1 point

@Martijn: I'm really not an expert on this, but we've had good results with simple X-UA-Compatible meta tag. Seem to work in most case, i.e. force IE out of the "please break the Internet for me" mode. One gotcha is that it has to be the very first thing on that page (right after <head> opening tag, that is) or it won't have any effect at all. In some cases X-UA-Compatible header is more feasible option and seems to work slightly better even.1 point

Some companies still using XP so IE is limited to IE8, the real problem here is not IE8, but their compatibility mode. Which turn render engines to IE7. We all hate the box models in IE7 and hate the bloated extra markup to let it work as expected. But we can't simply use conditional comments to know if IE8 is rendering in compatibility mode or not. (This is real ugly) I do think in a controlled environment (pw admin) we should set some restrictions. All companies using XP, can browse happy the internet. Please Ryan, drop IE8 support and make happy site editors !1 point

Don't think this marked solution is the solution? It's very simple. First it's always nice to know what multi-language approach you use since there's multiple ways. If you use the LanguageSupport modules with LanguageSupportPageNames also installed (which I guess you use), you'd set the language segments on the home/root page. There you'll find a name for each language. Let's assume you have german default and english alternative language, you'd probably set the name to german: "de" english: "en" This will result in urls like /de/meineseite/ and /en/mypage/ Default name could also left empty, so there won't be any language segment for it and only be /meineseite/. So, but you name them "startseite" and "home" which is strange as this would result in /startseite/meineseite/ and /home/mypage/, which is not desirable I think. So taking the language segments as described before a language switch using $page->localUrl(language) will return the correct url to the language. On the homepage this would result in domain.com (always default language, unless you set option to redirect to /de/ in LanguageSupportPageNames module) domain.com/de/ domain.com/en/ The language is always evaluated from the requested URL, and $page->url will always return urls of a page according the current language. You can get a localized url of a page explicit with $page->localUrl(language).1 point

What @clsource said. This definitely isn't typical AJAX behaviour. Something you're doing is very resource intensive; most likely retrieving or rendering pages -- though that's also all we know about your use case, so there could be something else involved we just don't know about. Agreed about the headers, too: by default POST requests are not cacheable, unless specifically forced using Cache-Control and Expires headers. You don't need to define any of those headers here unless you're somehow forcing caching for POST requests (although if you're just fetching records, not altering them, I'm equally confused about the use of POST here in the first place).1 point

I wonder why you put the headers in there. and the response time may vary depending of the children in the project. try using a limit1 point

ProCache version 2.0.0 (now in beta, available in the ProCache board) adds these new features: Multi-host support If you've got multiple hostnames pointing at your ProcessWire site, now you can cache them separately. SSL / HTTPS support ProCache will now optionally cache HTTPS requests separately from HTTP requests. Switch to PDO queries Previous versions of ProCache used MySQLi. This new version now uses PDO, consistent with ProcessWire 2.4.0. This improves performance when generating and maintaining caches. Requirements ProCache 2.0 requires ProcessWire 2.4.0 or newer. ProCache 1.x still supports previous versions of ProcessWire.1 point
