ryan Posted September 26 Posted September 26 ProcessWire adds SQLite and PostgreSQL support. This week on the dev branch (3.0.274) you can now install and run ProcessWire on SQLite or PostgreSQL, in addition to MySQL. adrian Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Thanks for merging all this so quickly @ryan - I feel like folks might also be interested in this benchmark table: https://github.com/processwire/processwire/pull/372#issuecomment-5841901625 18 6
Kiwi Chris Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Thanks for all the work on this. This could be an absolute game changer, and extends the ProcessWire philosophy of letting you choose how you want to do things rather than forcing a particular way on you. The benchmarks are interesting, and I think support for all three flavours of SQL is a good idea, as each may have their ideal use cases. Down the track, I'd be interested to know what the benchmarks would be like if there were no translation layer, but already the gains in performance are significant, and any losses are small, so the translation code must be pretty efficient already. 4
Tiberium Posted September 26 Posted September 26 If I read table correctly, that PostgreSQL is the overall better choice for performance. When it losed a metric to SQLite, it is not as bad as MySQL. 🤔 1
Tiberium Posted September 26 Posted September 26 And also my favorite, that also got a side note in the blog post: The new ProcessExportProfile version, who final seems to allow role export: Quote Allow profiles to export permissions, roles, users, passwords, and associated file assets while preserving the authentication salt and saved export choices It exports the roles in the past, but not set up with the right permission. So I read that commit, that is now an optional choice. Yeah! 3
zilli Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Well done @ryan and @adrian! This is amazing! Now next stop, Nginx official support 😉 3
wbmnfktr Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I tried to use the Site Builder, yet... no chance. I thought I messed something up during the installation, tried again on a clean installation. And another one. And again. No luck for now - at least for me. Tried Deepseek API, OpenCode Go, CommandCode, Z.AI Coding Plan... some of them won't even connect. Errors were: 404, model unknown, no endpoint I'd love to see and have a more detailed log about what was tried, what didn't work out, and why the error was thrown. On the positive side: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (super cheap and super fast) runs now on quite some projects - in AgentTools and CLI - and nails almost every task in ProcessWire. Those AGENTS.md files all around... [chefskiss-emoji.gif] 2
wbmnfktr Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Additional note: The provider, model, API that works in the installer, does not always work in the AgentTools and vice versa. Same provider (Anthropic/OpenAI Compatible), endpoint, model, API key works in AgentTools, but not in the installer. Something seems off.
maximus Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I started adding PostgreSQL and SQLite compatibility to my modules 6
csaggo.com Posted September 27 Posted September 27 This is awesome. I will try the sqlite feature asap as a couple of rather small sites are planned. sqlite is a nice gift for those. PostgreSQL should be quite an improvement on really large or complex-query-heavy sites. Great news!

zilli Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Here we go @Jonathan Lahijani https://github.com/processwire/processwire/commit/521d3346bd18f1bcaf06240867ebebe976cfa01e 1 1

Here's my running list of the major additions to ProcessWire in the last few months: + MAJOR FIXES + delete speed + subselectors + deadlocks / + CLI Modules + CLI Installer + WireTests + Agent Tools module + Migrations + Skills all the new markdown files + Database Abstraction Sqlite and Postgres + Web Servers Nginx and Caddy I'm utilizing all of them (well not the DB and web server stuff yet, but soon). My queue module will fit in nicely... but hey, if there were a native, standard queue module that would be fantastic too. Truly amazing. 4 1
Jonathan Lahijani Posted October 1 Posted October 1 @ryan Any chance we can fast-track pagination for repeaters? It was discussed in this blog post from 2016: https://processwire.com/blog/posts/fieldtype-pagination/ 2
adrian Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Agree with @Jonathan Lahijani - pagination for Repeaters is something I really need as well. 2
taotoo Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Very excited by the new sqlite option! I wonder if converting an existing site to sqlite is doable. 1
adrian Posted October 2 Posted October 2 @Jonathan Lahijani - do you have any thoughts about dragging/dropping items when paginated? Do we assume it's not needed beyond a certain number of items that triggers pagination, or do we just allow ordering within the current page?

adrian Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Just an FYI that the latest version of TracyDebugger includes support for SQLite and Postgres in AdminNeo. 9
