ANOTHER UPDATE SnipWires Taxes (VAT) configurator is ready! I added a new custom Fieldtype FieldtypeSnipWireTaxSelector based on an idea of @BitPoet - thanks for that! Also I created a full featured repeater for module config editor including drag&drop handling. Have a look at the animated GIF below. The taxes you configure here will be available as select option list in product page editor. The first tax in the configured list will be used a s the default tax in the custom field.2 points

Hi all, I have posted this in the VIP support forum of Padloper as well. Some of you do not have access to that board so posting here as well. Hopefully it doesn't count as spamming?! In June 2018, Antti announced that he was looking for a new product owner for Padloper. Sometime after, I had a fruitful discussion with him about my vision for the project if I was to take over. We agreed that commitment, motivation and a concrete plan were all important ingredients for the continued success of Padloper. I would like to officially announce that I am now the product owner and lead developer of Padloper. For those who may not know, I am the author and maintainer of several ProcessWire modules, both free and commercial. I am also a moderator in the ProcessWire forums. I would like to share with you a number of things regarding what’s going to happen next. This will be a long read. First, I would like to thank Antti for developing a great product. A lot of man-hours, dedication, passion and love has gone into making Padloper what it is today. Secondly, I would like to thank all users of Padloper. A great product is nothing without active users utilising it, putting it to the test, reporting bugs (even offering possible solutions) and proposing new features. So, thank you for helping make Padloper great! Support Thousands of hours have gone into developing Padloper. Although the code is well-written and easy to follow, Padloper is a big application with many moving parts. As such, it will take some time before I can fully grasp its inner workings. To make this transition as smooth as possible, Antti will help me with support for Padloper for some time. Currently, Padloper has a dedicated support forum. This is an arrangement between Ryan and Antti. The support forum works great as it allows the opening of multiple support threads to cover different issues. I have yet to speak to Ryan whether this arrangement can continue. However, given that I have other pro modules that I support in the open forums, it is unlikely that I will be requesting Ryan to let Padloper’s dedicated forum carry forth. A dedicated forum for one of my pro modules and open forums for my other pro modules will lead to confusion and questions from users of those other modules. Hence, Padloper support in the forums will move to the open forums. The disadvantage here is obviously the fact that support will be offered in one single (and maybe massive) support thread. To get around a ‘single thread support forum’, I am thinking of developing a simple online support queue system for all my modules. Meanwhile, support will continue in a new single thread and via email. Roadmap This list is neither exhaustive nor cast in stone. Its aim is to give an overview of my plans for Padloper. · Padloper 2 – a new major release · New backend for Padloper · Optional pro frontend module for Padloper · Documentation · New payment modules Let’s talk a bit about this list. Padloper 2 Release Padloper 2 will be a major release that incorporates a new, central backend shop for Padloper. This will be a new process module that pulls from the existing parts of Padloper (data models, etc) into one interface (more on this below). This version will also be extensible in the frontend, allowing for the plugging in of a new, optional, commercial frontend shop (full featured shop profile). Padloper 2 will not support the current ‘any page can be a product’ paradigm. Technically, products will still be pages. However, all products will utilise the same Padloper template. These will be invisible to the shop users themselves (e.g., hidden in admin tree). Only superusers will have full control of the Padloper system stuff. Support The current Padloper will continue to be supported until the new Padloper 2 is released. New features will be included in Padloper 2 only. Once Padloper 2 is released, legacy Padloper will only receive security fixes. All other support will cease. Upgrade There will be no upgrade path from the current Padloper to Padloper 2. Although their underlying architecture is the same, making sure that everything works in different setups and environments will be time consuming. However, for those who really need to migrate, if time allows and for an agreed fee, I could develop a custom script for the migration. Backend A new backend interface will be the major visual difference between the existing Padloper and Padloper 2. It goes beyond visual differences though. The new backend will be the single gateway for managing all shop-related features, both current and new ones. The backend will unify and include: · Easily add shop products. · Ability to add as little or as many custom fields to products as required (title, SKU, price, discount field, image/photo, description, categories, tags, etc). · Discounts manager (including auto start/expire discount codes). · Customers manager. · Invoices manager. · Taxes management. · Payment gateways manager. · Improved digital products management. · Stock management. · Manual order creation. · Graphical sales report. · Customer support. · Access-controlled shop editors/staff. · Dashboard for shop metrics. · Shop settings. · Product variations. · Import/export products as CSV or JSON. · Products search/filter. · Etc. Users will be able to turn off backend features that they do not need. This will enable a more streamlined experience for users. I plan to release Padloper 2 within 4 - 6 months, hopefully sooner. This is a major undertaking, hence the timescale. Please note that the first release of Padloper 2 will not include all of the above planned features. The idea is to build incrementally, adding new features in minor updates, focusing on stability, usability and security. Frontend Past requests have included the development of a full featured frontend shop. This is planned for Padloper 2. However, this will be an optional pro module priced separately from Padloper itself. The ability to build own frontend shops using Padloper API will still continue. For those who want a plug-n-play solution, this frontend shop will come in handy. The frontend shop profile will feature an ajax-powered shopping cart and a customisable ready-to-go theme. Pricing Model There are no plans to change the current prices of the 3 Padloper licences (Single, Developer and Agency). However, in order to continue to provide Padloper as a stable product with great features, it is also important that it remains a competitive and financially sustainable project. In order for this to happen and to also bring Padloper in line with my existing pro modules, the pricing model itself has to change. Starting from Padloper 2, the pricing model will shift to an ‘annual subscription’ model rather than the current ‘lifetime licence model’. I am fully aware that there are different opinions for and against annual subscriptions. However, I believe that this model is the most equitable approach that suits both the developer and the clients. The annual subscription will allow users (licence holders) to get 12 months of free VIP support for Padloper as well as future updates available within that time period. After the 12 months, users will be able to renew (online) their subscription at a discounted cost (worked as a fraction of the full purchase price) for a further 12 months (perpetually). Users will be able to continue to use Padloper for life even if they don’t renew their subscriptions. Upgrading current licences to Padloper 2 will be a paid upgrade. Current users of Padloper will get an attractive discount. This will be a time-limited offer (maybe a couple of months) that will start with the release of Padloper 2. New customers will pay the full price for Padloper 2. I hope the planned features are reason enough for you to consider upgrading to Padloper 2. Payment Modules I will be taking over as the maintainer and lead developer of the existing payment gateways (Payment base class, PayPal and Stripe). New payment modules are also planned. Payment modules will continue to be free. However, only ProcessWire 3+ support will be provided going forward. Padloper Domain and Future Downloads I have also taken charge of the Padloper domain. Within the next 12 months, purchase and download of Padloper will shift to processwireshop.pw. Please note that this is not the official shop for ProcessWire! It just bears a name that reflects its product offerings ?. Eventually, traffic to padloper.pw will redirect to processwireshop.pw. Feedback I would love to hear your thoughts about the upcoming changes and any feature requests you might have for Padloper 2. Whilst I cannot guarantee that any request will be implemented, I can promise that I will thoughtfully consider all feedback. Thanks for reading and thank you for supporting Padloper! kongondo1 point

Hello, I'm very new to ProcessWire but already fell in love with this CMS/CMF! I just finished my first small project and as I saw a lot of questions and different answers in this forum on how to set up a nice language switcher for your website, I decided to write my first tutorial. ---------- Please note: I rewrote this tutorial since I was made aware and learned that flags should not be used for language selectors! There are some threads here in the forum (and from external sources) where this question is discussed: https://processwire.com/talk/topic/13196-adding-image-field-to-language/ http://daily.unitedlanguagegroup.com/stories/editorials/inside-design-language-selector-no-flags https://processwire.com/talk/topic/16524-extending-languages-template/ http://www.flagsarenotlanguages.com/blog/why-flags-do-not-represent-language/ https://processwire.com/talk/topic/14241-language-names-and-utf8-page-names/ Thanks, @ottogal @bernhard @jmartsch @kongondo an all others for your hints! ---------- TUTORIAL - Set up a nice language switcher for your website - here we go: This will be the desired result! Step 1) Setup at least 2 languages in your PW install. In my case it's German (default language) + English: Step 2) Add a custom field Type = Text Name = languagecode This will hold the ISO 639-1 two-letter language code for the respective language. The field is needed to provide a simple method for outputting the language code in your templates. Without this field, you will need to programmatically construct your two-letter language code output via PHP (at least for the default language, as ProcessWire doesn't allow to rename the default language and it will always be called default). Here is an overview for ISO 639-1 two-letter language codes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes Step 3) Add this field to the system template: language. To achieve this, go to Setup / Templates and activate the filter Show system templates: Now you can add the previously created field languagecode to the language template. Step 4) Edit your languages and fill in the appropriate values. a) default (German) Name = default (this can't be changed and is read only) Title = Deutsch (in both language tabs! - this is important as your visitor should always see his language item ... in his language) languagecode = de b) english (English) Name = english Title = English (in both language tabs! - this is important as your visitor should always see his language item ... in his language) languagecode = en Step 5) Now we are ready to write our template output! As we already have the appropriate two-letter ISO language code (languagecode field), we can use this in our html lang property: <html lang="<?php echo $user->language->languagecode; ?>"> Also the rel alternate output in the html head is simple. Put the following code within your <head></head> area: <?php // Handle output of 'hreflang' link tags for multi-language (SEO!) foreach ($languages as $language) { if (!$page->viewable($language)) { continue; } // Get the http URL for this page in the given language $url = $page->localHttpUrl($language); // Get the language code using custom languagecode field $languagecode = $language->languagecode; echo PHP_EOL.'<link rel="alternate" hreflang="'.$languagecode.'" href="'.$url.'">'; } ?> In my sample I've used Boostrap 4 and the code below shows a complete navbar with our language switcher (BTW the language switcher will always be visible, even when the bootstrap navbar is collapsed): <nav id="mainnav" class="navbar navbar-expand-lg navbar-light px-4 px-md-5 sticky-top"> <a class="navbar-brand" href="<?php echo $config->urls->root; ?>"> <img src="<?php echo $config->urls->templates; ?>images/logo-rund-80x80.png" alt=""> Your Site Title </a> <ul class="navbar-nav ml-auto mr-3 mr-lg-0 order-lg-last d-none d-xs-custom-flex language-switcher" aria-label="<?php echo __('Sprache wechseln') ?>"> <?php echo '<li class="nav-item dropdown">'; // Construct the language prompt in the current user language $prompt = $user->language->title.' ('.strtoupper($user->language->languagecode).')'; // Current language = dropdown-toggle echo '<a class="nav-link dropdown-toggle" href="#languages" id="language-select" data-toggle="dropdown" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false">'; echo '<span class="world-icon"></span><span class="sr-only">'._x('(aktuelle Sprache)', 'navigation').': </span> '.$prompt; echo '</a>'; echo '<div id="languages" class="dropdown-menu dropdown-menu-right" aria-labelledby="language-select">'; foreach ($languages as $language) { // Get the http URL for current page in the given language $url = $page->localHttpUrl($language); // Construct the language prompt in the given language $prompt = $language->title.' ('.strtoupper($language->languagecode).')'; // Next language item (except current language) if ($user->language->id != $language->id) { if (!$page->viewable($language)) { echo '<span class="dropdown-item disabled">'.$prompt.'</span>'; } else { echo '<a class="dropdown-item" href="'.$url.'">'.$prompt.'</a>'; } } } echo '</div>'; echo '</li>'; ?> </ul> <button class="navbar-toggler" type="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#navbarMainMenu" aria-controls="navbarMainMenu" aria-expanded="false" aria-label="<?php echo __('Menü einblenden / ausblenden') ?>"> <span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span> </button> <div class="collapse navbar-collapse my-3 my-lg-0" id="navbarMainMenu"> <ul class="navbar-nav mr-auto"> <?php // Top navigation consists of homepage and its visible children foreach ($homepage->and($homepage->children("template=main-page|news|contact-points")) as $item) { if ($item->id == $page->rootParent->id) { echo '<li class="nav-item active">'; echo '<a class="nav-link" href="'.$item->url.'">'.$item->title.'<span class="sr-only"> '._x('(aktuelle Seite)', 'navigation').'</span></a>'; echo '</li>'; } else { echo '<li class="nav-item">'; echo '<a class="nav-link" href="'.$item->url.'">'.$item->title.'</a>'; echo '</li>'; } } ?> </ul> </div> </nav> That's it! I hope you will like my tutorial and if there are any questions, critics or improvements please let me know! Thanks, Martin1 point

To make a long story short... the last few weeks I asked myself... "What kinds of ProcessWire Profiles are missing or could be interesting for new/existing users?" The answers were... feature rich - with the full glory/monty of ProcessWire's features basic default profiles - Agency, Portfolio, CV, kind-of-niche (Photographers, Musicians, ...) verbose and detailed for starters Premium Theme - kind of... like WordPress has So I wanted to ask you... what could be interesting for you and maybe others out there. I already created Sublime (theme based), pwRecipes (super basic starter) and PWBrecipes (advanced starter based on pwRecipes) but still... I want to create and offer more options for new and existing users of ProcessWire. I teamed up with my colleague and friend from Muskaat to create a nice multi-purpose theme/design to provide a nice entry-point for everyone in regards of ProcessWire but this will take time as it will be highly customized and art-directed. There is a side-project of mine (some of you may know about it) where I want to provide all kinds of ProcessWire Barebones like an Agency-Theme-themed starter profile and such. But... to be honest... right now I'm a bit lost. I don't know what could be interesting or what might be needed. And yes... I don't know where to start. ? Is there anything YOU wanted to have being around as a site profile or theme or anything like this? Every answer, idea and recommendation is highly appreciated.1 point

Regarding Site Profiles: what is really missing is a system which turns one into an updatable "theme". Especially when targeting beginners, it would be preferable to provide a way to keep those profiles updated via the admin, like Ryan's module updater. Also, using UIkit 3 as the bases of it would be appealing to beginners and also some experienced devs, for the usual reasons: a popular and documented css "framework" is easy to use, extend and update. The site profile could provide "hooks" so that it can be modified and extended without changing the "core theme". Sure, I did not provide any new ideas at all, it is just a quick summary of what have been sought after dozens and dozens of times here, in the forums. @bernhard might even be working on something like this maybe? ?1 point

If I'm being completely honest, I've never really had this need, and I don't think that I'd have much use for this feature. Then again It's clear that you've built much bigger – and much more complex – admin side features than I've ever even thought of, so it's no surprise that your needs are also somewhat different from mine. For me the admin is mostly for managing content, and when that content needs to be viewed by non-content-editors, I generally prefer to create my own views for it ? While I do understand your reasoning here, at the same time I think that what should be in the core are features that are commonly needed. Like Ryan, I'm not really sure that this as a very common need, and as such I think that it might be better to solve it with a module (at least for the time being). Personally I'd be slightly worried about the security of this feature if it was in the core: sure, Ryan has been great at covering all the bases when it comes to security, but making notable tweaks to the permission system is still a potential risk. I get that it's even more of a risk when you add it yourself, but when it's a third party module there's zero chance of it affecting anyone who doesn't specifically install it. I was actually going to suggest this – but then I re-read your post, and realised that you had already ruled it out ? In my opinion this doesn't don't seem like a very hacky thing. Hooking before page and fields can be saved and preventing seems like a proper solution to me. If you do that and also hide the "save" buttons (and prevent submitting ProcessPageEdit form in other ways), you'll be really close to what you're suggesting here.1 point

Good to hear it works now. It would be interesting to see and know how and why ProcessWire rejects some files nonetheless.1 point
-
Got it working. Thanks for the help! I think I was overthinking it a bit, but since php is resolved first, it's okay to put the processwire tags inside a javascript argument.1 point

I got it working using a different file - strange one - there must have been something wrong with the original file, but what that is I don't know as it works otherwise. I've attached the file. SampleVideo_1280x720_1mb.mp41 point

That's... weird. I'd try this now. take whatever kind of files to test which will be accepted take the video files and change file extension to .txt or .pdf try weird file names and easy file names - long, short, letters, numbers, all in the mix keep an eye on the dev console for errors enable debug mode and maybe some sort of Tracy Do your files have some sort of special names or characters in the names? Are these files corrupt or are they not properly exported? Are these files real movie files or just MP3s (or other) renamed?1 point

What does the web server error log have to say? You should see a more verbose error description there (or perhaps even in Chrome developer console on the network tab).1 point

Once I missed to add the file extension to my files field. Took me some time to find that issue. Another time something in Firefox messed things up. While it didn't work in Firefox, all other browsers or therefore the uploads from within those worked without problems. Never found out what it exactly was.1 point

Ok, then again if I understand correctly you want to set permissions on a page using a Page Referece field (to select a role), being "y" the page being edited? Probably last think I don't understand is if you want to block the edit page or the frontend page (rendered with the template) If the case is blocking the edit page for a certain role, you could hook into the Page::editable() (haven't tested this code): wire()->addHookAfter('Page::editable', function($event) { if(!$event->return) return; // already determined user has no access if(wire('user')->isSuperuser()) return; // superuser always allowed $page = $event->object; if($page->template == "y_page_template") if($page->relatie->has($this->user->roles)){ $event->return = true; } else{ $event->return = false; } } }); Here I am assuming Relatie field actually selects roles in ProcessWire, since those are pages too.1 point

How can I separate the api $mail->new call to the default wireMail when the MailGun Module is installed? I use MailGun for the ProMailer Module, but have a few instances on the site, where mails are sent through the API. For instance the contact form now is using mailgun as well, but I don't want that. Is there an option to set the mailer to the default wireMail?1 point

@bernhard i have 3 custom CkInlineActions, 2 are for selecting pages from a central media library that stores images, video, audio, and embeds. The other selects musical works from a list of works (pages). The editors can insert a link to any work without having to use page list select; this is pretty much essential, as using the page list select to find a record among hundreds would be too time consuming. (1) Insert link to work, the user types @ and then the first characters of the title... (2) Insert a shortcode to display a video or image (uses Ui-kit lightbox); The shortcodes are processed by a custom textformatter that does the replacements. to insert a video the users type ~v and then the module just shows all of the videos; you don't need to type the title of the video, as the behavior of the module in terms of how it displays results is based on how you setup your CkInline action. To insert an image they type ~i. Example of the shortcode that is generated by the inline action:1 point

I just released version 0.7.0 of the module: It fixes the ugly label being showed above the "inhterit" checkbox for newer Processwire versions. I think there is a bug in core, because ProcessWire ignores the fact that the label is marked as "hidden". I had to fix it via CSS for now. Added the possibility to resize the Opengraph image when referencing a page image by specifying a width and/or height. Opengraph image: If the referenced image field is empty and pulls the image from another page (default value), the module now substitutes the default image as well. Other than that the readme now contains a chapter for the various hooks provided by SeoMaestro. This might be interesting if you need to customize the behaviour of the module. Please let me know if you find any issues! ? Cheers1 point

For the sake of marketing and brand recognition I'd recommend not going with a generic name such as pw + [some commerce related term]. Best known brand names tend to be unique, and they don't really have to have any connection with the company/product (although they can). Trader is a decent idea, but I still think that Padloper is better -- not to mention that it already has some brand value, and an awesome logo ? just my five cents.1 point

UPDATE OK, after I've faced that for and against again, I've decided to make the module freely available. If you are interested, you can test the current state of development. I already put the module on GitHub. Please note that the software is not yet intended for use in a production system. (Alpha version). For example, the configuration and handling of the VAT rates are still missing. Also the dashboard is still incomplete. And many other things needs to be improved and implemented... ? If you like, you can also submit feature requests and suggestions for improvement. I also accept pull requests. https://github.com/gadgetto/SnipWire1 point
