Looking good. Reminds me of ST3, but there seems to be a good filosophy and infrastructure behind it.

oh look - another editor with dark grey surround and luminous font on a black background.

Do all editor makers think we all like such unhappy work environments?

I think if a few more software developers made things light and fresh with a couple of flowers and the odd puppy round the edges, computer programming would be a much brighter and breezier occupation!

Not enough spam on twitter we also need here :P

I often work in the dark at night and having a white background is killing my eyes...

It is probably years of working in trendy, darkened studios, but I really like light, warm rooms these days. Actually, even recording studios have gone that way now with many of the top ones having actual windows with real daylight!

That has been a shock to the system for some of the old school.....

Sublime Text 3 has all the bases covered. :)

Dark background is much easier on my eyes. I switched when Textmate first came out and have never looked back.

Joss,

I hear you on recording studios — they are like the land time forgot when you are in there.

"Oh, it's 3am, dark and raining outside. wow!"

The Adobe Edge Code version of brackets seems a little bit quicker, but it is still slower than Sublime. I do find myself falling back to TextPad which I have used for years.

Brackets always excites me with its features but when I try it it's painfully slow and unusable.

I agree. Brackets has a lot of promise — but not ready for primetime (yet).

Thanks for the feedback guys - I hadn't tested thoroughly yet, although maybe the size of the .app file should've rung some alarms - pretty huge for a text editor!

Sublime Text is one of those programs where I really do genuinely wonder how it could be any better.

I guess some of the new features of Brackets are nice but the actual base of ST is lightning fast and practical.

I'm always tempted to look elsewhere though, that's just because of my love of software though I guess.

Just received my Atom invitation (can't use it because there's only for mac for now) and have two left to offer. Anyone that wants one send me a PM with the email :)

I contemplate it all the time. Seriously, I think PW is the only tool I don't contemplate leaving ;)

One day I will get round to inventing the proper text editor for the proper creative environment - it only works on the back of a fag packet.

Trouble is, by the time I get round to it, no one will be smoking!

(Probably ought to invent an OS called Fag Packet, really - or Cigarette, for our confused and blushing American cousins....)

never change a running system!

That would go against my huge curiosity. I'm so hoping that something better than ST appears :)

I wonder if your day-to-day computer is like mine - stuffed to the brim with software that I tried once, forgot what it was and never got round to uninstalling it. I sometimes through my lists and think "I wonder what that did?"

I also have a downloads full of mystery zips - I definitely downloaded them for something at sometime, but cant remember what. This is not helped that I have managed to keep a lot of my archives going from the mid nineties - some of those bits and pieces are probably freebees from the front of mags that are for windows 3.11 .....

Pity my memory is not quite as good.
