Allow any member to sell premium modules

Currently working on a premium module and I would love to be able to sell it through the PW store (currently not possible) and maybe have the store handle code creation.

Yes it is indeed an option and nice to have but i would vote for opening the official store for 3rd party module developers.

Please consider this @ryan

  • It would motivate more professionals to develop amazing modules for ProcessWire.
  • For newcomers it would be easier to actually find the plugins they need.
  • I usually prefer paid modules because I feel more safe when it comes to support / updates. (But currently I'm forced to use some weird unofficial selfmade stores which is not supporting the feeling of safety and trust that I'm looking for as a customer)
  • Support requests for these modules could go into their dedicated VIP Support Forums just like with Ryan's Pro Modules. (The whole community could benefit from already answered questions easily ...)

I could keep going on but I'm sure it is not even necessary. Everyone can make up their own mind on this topic for sure.

Just one more thing I want to add:

I much prefer to support Ryan with a referral fee for each sold item instead of anyone else.

While I agree that a one and only "official store" would be great and help ProcessWire to prosper, I suggest that developers willing to sell such modules should unite :)

Consider that Ryan is a human too, with only 24 hours a day to use up ;) meaning: implementing, maintaining and running the store requires extra effort and time which might be a mayor constrain here, hence my suggestion of doing it as a teamwork and sharing the benefits as well.

Currently we have: https://processwireshop.pw/ and https://processwire.com/talk/store/

Although it would be welcome to see the two "merged", I guess it is not as easy as it sounds.

Of course you are right @szabesz. I can understand why we don't have it yet. I just wanted Ryan to really consider it and to know that there are people that would be happy to support him with a referral fee or something.

That's the point I'm not quite sure about. Have a look at https://invisioncommunity.com/features/commerce#elCommerce_marketplaceContainer
(This is a feature of the forum software processwire.com/talk/ is using)

The board works great so I guess the feature might do what it's supposed to do out of the box quite well?

I think it would be great to start the marketplace precisely by doing it with Processwire as a module, then that module is also on offer as a platform demonstration. Maybe?

(from) $30/month? Maybe it is worth it, hard to tell.

Well the pricing depends on the setup (cloud / self-hosted) and the number of users. It could be the case that the feature is already included in the current plan. (cloud) If not we're looking at a one time payment of 100$ + 70$ / year. (Self hosted)

Maybe it's not worth it right now but I'm pretty sure it would be in the future, when more premium modules arrive. (The fact that there aren't too many available right now is another sign that we need a strong, open and official marketplace thought)

And who knows: Maybe Ryan even has a special sponsorship deal or something like that with them and it would be for free ... :-)

Can we not simply use the /talk/store and have a submission process? the processwireshop.pw looks to different from the PW site and might put people off and look not "official" (which was the case when i went there to buy something then didnt).

Hi, does @ryan or anyone else have anymore progress or opinion on this, as i think it is a somewhat polarising subject.

I believe having lots of different stores would be bad for processwire (as im not very keen on using the https://processwireshop.pw/  store). It would be preferable to have a one stop shop for all modules including premium IMO.

      Hello,
Does anyone know whether the is a place detailing the structure your admin theme should take when creating one? e.g. I see UiKit, Reno and Default admin themes all have default.php, init.php, controller.php files, is this a stylisitic choice or a prerequisite for any admin theme module?
      Thanks!

I have a question about Multiple Site implementation, and how to possible "share" modules between them.
First, required reading: https://processwire.com/api/modules/multi-site-support/  I'm dealing with Option #1.
The way this works is that in the root directory of a site, there is an index.config.php file that denotes what domain is mapped to which site-*/ directory.
The project I am working on has three site-*/ directories, each with their own site-*/modules/ directory.
What has happened is that a lot of the modules from site to site are the same.
I was wondering if there was any way to "share" modules between sites in the Multiple Site setup, via symlink or alias, or potentially if there was some roadmapped feature that @ryan has planned to solve this issue.
Either way, any help/pointers would be appreciated!

      Hello!
I need your assistance please. I purchased the module FormBuilder. Unfortunately, the module discontinued delivering customer submissions to e-mail box specified in the module settings. Direct mailing to the e-mail box works OK. The module settings stays the same and are correct, like "Send e-mail to administrator(s) is checked. The last version of FormBuilder 3.0 has been installed. Please advise how to resolve the issue becase I cannot get orders from customers anymore (((

I installed the InputfieldCKEditor module and am using the ck editor in all of the fields on my processwire website.  I need to be able to drag images into the CKEditor field so I downloaded a CKEditor plugin called simpleuploads put it into /site/modules/InputfieldCKEditor/plugins/ and added the plugin to the field I am working on.  I have tried doing it many different ways and the plugins still are not working and I have no idea where to go from here.
I am working with processwire version 3.0.61.
I am using CKEditor version 4.4.2.

      I have a PW page that is about 2 - 3 Years old .
After an upgrade to Version 2.6  all  Pages and modules where gone in Admin backend.
As i had no time to look after the page i left it like it was for quite a while.
Now that i needed to get the Page online again i searched whith google anf fount that i should upgrade the page to PW 2.7.3
As the Upgrade to 2.6 was done in a hurry , its perfectly possible that i accidentallly upgraded from 2.0 to 2.6.
Please have a look at the images to see the desaster in full color ....
