netcarver
In case anyone is interested in using IRC to chat about ProcessWire, and having consulted with Ryan about it, I have registered #processwire on irc.freenode.net for that purpose. If you are a regular on freenode, just pop into #processwire. If you are not then the fastest way to get online is probably via the webchat interface at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=processwire&uio=d4Hope to meet a few of you in there sometime.
charliez
Thanks for setting that up necarver. Do you know if the chat on PW, here, next to the forum works for everybody?
netcarver
Hi Carlos, Sorry, I don't know. As I am often logged into several IRC channels on Freenode, I thought I'd look into extending the options for fans of PW.
Pete
The chat on the forums does work, but as it's a free license it only accepts up to 5 users (not taht that's been a problem looking at the logs). Either way, a channel on Freenode is a great idea - I might fire up Trillian when I get some spare time and pop my head in.
netcarver
Hi Pete, Thanks for the positive feedback. I wouldn't count on it being an overnight success but hopefully it can reach critical mass eventually if a few of the more experienced PW users decide to frequent it. alan
Joined (I think) but difficult to believe though it is, I know less about IRC (never used it) than I do about PW — watch out, learning driver...
netcarver
Hi Alan, saw you in there briefly. Planning on coming back?
alan
Ack! Yes... I'm using a Mac client to access IRC, I've registered my nick with freenode, received their email, send my confirmation msg and all OK, but whenever I connect I get a scary warning -NickServ- This nickname is registered. Please choose a different nickname, or identify via /msg NickServ identify <password> So just Googling around to try and work out what that means/how I fix it (sigh)
apeisa
I guess that just means that nick is reserved. Just login and choose whatever nickname suits you. No need to register anything.
alan
Tks, yes, only annoying as it was registered by me o_0 But I think I've fixed it now anyway, error found between chair and keyboard (when is a letter o not a letter o, when it's a number zero; what am I like...) alan
@netcarver saw you in there briefly. Planning on coming back? I'm slightly better with revolving doors than I am IRC clients But now I have it fixed, yes, I'll be dropping in periodically, thanks for thinking to get the channel up in the first place
Nico Knoll
I really like it but it's annoying that "nico" isn't free anymore and I have to use "Nico_"...

diogo
what about adding the channel to PW's website? http://webchat.freenode.net/ edit: oops! there is no link to it.... well, just go to that link, and then "main menu" (top-left) and then "Add webchat to your site" edit2: and here is a custom link to bookmark http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=processwire&uio=d4
apeisa
Just getting this topic up. If someone wonders if channel is still active - yes it is. Also seems to be a great support channel. We have had many great discussions already. Welcome!
