  2. This week in the core, dev branch updates were largely focused on API documentation, with several minor core bug fixes (via WireTests) resolved during the at the same time. We also have new versions of the AgentTools and WireTests modules released this week as well. Core New: API.md documentation files (for agents and us): $classLoader / WireClassLoader — covers namespace registration, class maps, prefix/suffix path fallbacks, and findClassFile() for debugging (view) $datetime / WireDateTime — covers all public methods including date formatting, string-to-timestamp conversion, and relative/elapsed time output, with live-tested examples (view) $log / WireLog — covers save(), message(), warning(), error(), reading with getEntries()/getLines(), pruning, deleting, and built-in log names (view) $notices / Notices — covers adding notices, Notice flags (including string names), iterating, filtering with viewable(), hasErrors(), hasWarnings(), rendering, and Notice properties (view) $fields / Fields and Field — covers getting, creating, saving, cloning, tagging, flag constants, and field methods; (view) $fieldgroups / Fieldgroups and Fieldgroup — covers field membership, template relationships, and field context (view) $templates / Templates, Template, and TemplateFile — three separate API.md files covering the templates manager, the Template object in full, and the TemplateFile rendering class (View: Templates, Template, and TemplateFile). AgentTools module In AgentTools admin, you'll find a new "Tasks" feature. This lets you create your own custom tasks, which are essentially saved prompts that you can reuse and configure. The system also comes with several built-in tasks, including: WCAG accessibility review: Review templates and representative content for common accessibility issues. Recent log review: Scan ProcessWire logs for recent errors, suspicious activity, and operational issues. Migration review: Review pending AgentTools migrations before they are applied. SEO and content hygiene review: Review site structure and representative content for SEO/content quality issues. Template file security scan: Scan template files for common security risks in output, selectors, and request handling. A shared animated processing overlay UI was also added, used by both AgentTools and Page Engineer. (Try it!). Probably only of interest to agents, but more tools were made available via the CLI, which helps out with Engineer requests, as well as AI agents that you may have available on your localhost dev environment.   3. Hi everyone, I’m happy to share NativeAnalytics, a native first-party analytics module for ProcessWire. The module is now available in the ProcessWire modules directory: https://processwire.com/modules/native-analytics/ NativeAnalytics provides a useful analytics dashboard directly inside the ProcessWire admin, without relying on external analytics platforms, third-party scripts or external APIs. All analytics data is stored locally in your ProcessWire installation, which makes it a good fit for projects where you want a simpler, more self-contained analytics solution. The module currently tracks and displays: page views unique visitors sessions current visitors top pages referrers devices and browsers 404 hits engagement events such as form submits, downloads, tel/mail clicks, outbound clicks and custom CTA events It also includes: charts and trend views comparison between periods custom date range filtering page-level analytics inside the page edit screen optional monthly email reports optional PDF report attachments exports to CSV, PDF and DOCX helper examples and a small snippet generator for custom event tracking New in the latest version: Goals and conversion tracking event-based goals, for example form submits, CTA clicks, downloads or tel/mail clicks page/path-based goals, for example thank-you pages or booking confirmation pages conversion rate reporting based on sessions and unique visitors a dedicated Goals dashboard with goal cards, goal trends and goal overview easier goal setup with helper text, quick presets and suggestions from already tracked events and pages daily aggregate tables for events and goals raw event retention setting additional database indexes and cleanup helpers for larger datasets There are also several privacy and consent-related options: optional cookie-less visitor/session mode consent-based tracking helper functions for custom consent integrations optional PrivacyWire localStorage consent helper support cleaner behaviour when global tracking is disabled The reason I built this module was that I wanted something that feels natural inside ProcessWire itself, instead of embedding another analytics service into the admin. For many sites, it can be useful to have core traffic, engagement and conversion data available right where content is managed. Goal tracking was added because several users asked for a simple way to measure important actions without having to fight with external analytics tools. For example, you can now create a goal for a contact form submit, a CTA button click, a file download or a visit to a thank-you page, and then see conversions and conversion rates directly in the ProcessWire admin. A small note about very large datasets: NativeAnalytics includes retention settings, daily aggregate tables and cleanup tools, and the latest version improves this further for events and goals. For very high-traffic sites, I still recommend using sensible raw data retention and keeping long-term reporting based on aggregated data. I do not want to overclaim without real long-term benchmarks on extremely large datasets, so feedback from larger installations is very welcome. ! If you tested one of the earlier development versions named PW Native Analytics, I recommend uninstalling that old test version first and installing NativeAnalytics as a fresh module, because the module name and structure changed during development. Multi-site analytics is not included yet, but it is something I am looking into. It would need proper per-site separation in the stored analytics data, so I want to approach that carefully rather than adding a quick workaround.   4. Some time ago, I decided to install xdebug on my development server, but I never really needed it or used it. TracyDebugger is enough for what I'm doing. I didn't notice it then because my app was not highly developed at the time, but it really causes speed issues especially if you're working on a sophisticated site with a lot of business logic. For a long time, I thought it was just ProcessWire itself being slow, my app being slow due to some optimizations I hadn't done yet, my database being very large, combined with my low spec dev server, but it turns out disabling xdebug, which I had long forgotten about, made things much faster. Just a heads up if you're having speed issues!

  5. Hi everyone, Every web page has a carbon footprint. Most developers have no idea what it is. This module measures it. GitHub: https://github.com/mxmsmnv/PageCarbon What it does Tracks response size, PHP execution time, and peak memory per front-end request, then estimates CO₂ using the Sustainable Web Design Model v4 (Wholegrain Digital, 2024). Results appear in a dashboard under Setup → PageCarbon. Admin dashboard: Per-page ratings: 🟢 A (< 100 mg) / 🟡 B / 🟠 C / 🔴 D (≥ 700 mg) 24-hour hourly CO₂ bar chart Top 50 pages by average CO₂ with exec time, response size, and hit count Real-world analogies - all-time total translated into 12 everyday equivalents: car km driven, espressos brewed, Netflix hours, Google searches, short-haul flights, trees needed for a year, and more DOCX export - zero-dependency, pure PHP via ZipArchive Screenshot: Performance-first architecture: WireCache buffer - metrics accumulate in memory, batch INSERT once per hour (zero per-request DB writes) Bot sampling - only 1-in-N bot requests recorded, human requests always in full 90-day raw retention with permanent hourly aggregates - historical data never lost Frontend API: $pc = $modules->get('PageCarbon'); echo $pc->renderBadge($page); // full card echo $pc->renderBadge($page, 'compact'); // single-line pill $stats = $pc->getStats($page); // avg_co2_mg, rating, hits...   6. @Roych It looks promising so far. Thanks for the module. Custom event tracking and goal tracking are features I personally would still like to see. Plus conversion rates based on that data. Have you already run a performance test using long-term data and a large number of visitors? How does this scale over the long term? For example: I have sites with 6 million unique visitors per year and a tracking history spanning 15 years. Does the module still run stably with such large data volumes?

  7. I am just reading about this but just in case: Can you make event tracking easy? Google Analytics makes it so hard to see when a button or other action is taken. Having this built into PW and super easy to implement would be a godsend.

  9. @wbmnfktr The current version of AgentTools lets you configure the max iterations on the module screen. Previously the number was like 5, but the new default I believe is now 20. They are good at fixing bugs. It's just that some of the bugs were previously silent or not commonly noticed. I use multi-instance quite a bit, and even on this site (the whole modules directory is a separate install booted from this one). But I've not run into this issue. Is it possible the two instances are running different versions of PW?

  11. Hey folks, we at frameless Media often develop across multiple devices – laptop, tablet, sometimes even from a phone with an AI coding assistant. Git is our single source of truth, but getting those changes onto a staging or production server has always been annoying. Especially on shared hosting where there's no SSH, no git, and git-based FTP via YAML configs is more hassle than it's worth. We also frequently need to test new modules directly on shared hosting environments where the server setup differs from our local machines. Manually uploading files after every push? No thanks. So we built GitSync. 🎯 TL;DR: ✅ Link any installed module to its GitHub repo ✅ See all branches and their latest commits ✅ One-click sync – only changed files are downloaded ✅ GitHub Webhook support – auto-sync on every push ✅ Works on shared hosting – no git, no SSH, no cron ✅ Private repo support via GitHub Token What's the difference to ProcessUpgrade? ProcessUpgrade is great for updating published modules from the PW modules directory. But it tracks releases, not branches. During development, when you're pushing to `develop` or `feature/xyz` ten times a day, you need something different. That's where GitSync comes in. 🚀 How it works Install the module, add your GitHub Token (optional for public repos) Go to GitSync > Add Module, pick any installed module from the dropdown GitSync searches GitHub for matching repositories automatically Link the module to a repo + branch – done From now on, you can sync with one click. GitSync compares file hashes locally and remotely (using the same SHA1 blob hashing that git uses internally) and only downloads what actually changed. No full re-downloads, minimal API usage. Want it fully automatic? Set up a GitHub Webhook – enter a secret in the module config, point the webhook to `https://yoursite.com/gitsync-webhook/`, and every push triggers an automatic sync. The module overview shows a ⚡ webhook badge on auto-synced modules so you always know what's wired up. The real power: remote development with AI 📱 You're on the train, phone in hand, chatting with Claude via the Claude app. Claude writes code, commits to a feature branch on GitHub. GitSync picks up the webhook and syncs the module to your dev server. Automatically. You open the edited webpage on your phone, check the result, give feedback, iterate. The entire development loop without ever opening a laptop. 🤯 This works just as well for teams: multiple developers push to GitHub from different machines, and the staging server always reflects the latest state – no manual deploys, no SSH sessions, no FTP. We've been using a prototype internally for a few weeks now and it's become part of our daily workflow – especially the webhook auto-sync is something we don't want to miss anymore. As proof of concept we built the public release entirely as described above 😃 Technical details for the curious The differential sync works like GIT itself: every file's content is hashed as `sha1("blob {size}\0{content}")`. GitHub's Trees API returns these hashes for the entire branch in a single request. GitSync computes the same hash locally. Matching hash = identical file = skip.
