strange /?/ repeated requests crashing site

Having a strange issue where i keep getting MySql 2006 errors (database gone away) on url http://mp-arts.co.uk/?/ for user ?

I've check the PW logs and something is hitting that url ALOT, is there anyway to kill the access to that url??

A .htaccess rewrite rule should do it. I'm just not good enough with it to give you a written rule.

or do all requests through PW go through this url?

Take a look at this topic, and particularly Soma's answer there. The question mark means that ProcessWire doesn't yet know which page was requested. Either your site is getting more traffic than the (MySQL) server can handle, or there's something else going wrong.

Might be worthwhile to take a closer look at Apache logs if you want to find out what exactly is going on traffic-wise. Additionally checking MySQL slow queries log (if you've got that enabled and can access it) could provide some sort of insight

thanks. will check it out, seems to be the same issue. I'm using media temple for a client which i've never used before so might be their hosting and some setting tweaks that need to happen maybe
