  1. Thanks, Ryan. I will try to get more information from my provider. (Yes, it's a standard account, shared hosting, I guess).
  2. Just wanted to say big thanks for this module, pete!
  3. Thanks, Philipp. And thanks again for the deadlink - just found another one - and fixed both of them now.
  4. Thanks. Yeah, my impression was yes, it makes a difference. Me and my colleague have the feeling, that the site actually loads faster than it did before when the pages were static html. We maybe wrong, but it really feels faster...
  5. Same for me here... I don't know why that happened. Seemes to me like it has got something to do with the rights of my ftp-account - because this error popped up after I created a single ftp-account for the new pw-directory - rather than using one global ftp-account for all directories. Anyone got a solution here? Cause I feel quite uncomfortable having site/assets/ on 777...
  6. Hi Matthew! Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I know what you mean. I'll see what I can do. No ideas so far... :/
  7. @Nicole: Thanks, that's good to know. @Joss: mmmhhhh... I'm not sure why these buttons take you to the top of the page. They should work like Nicole wrote... Which browser, which system? Which resolution (maybe the mobile?) Thanks for your feedback...
  8. Can you tell me something about the speed of our site? I know there are many big images in it, and the scripts aren't too lightweight either. So I would be interested in your impressions. Thanks a lot, guys!
  9. Thanks guys... @Wanze: ah, yeah, I changed the directories, that is why the path doesn't work anymore. I'll go check it... (The image path should work now. And the cam will be online tomorrow. ) @Joss: errr, which right arrows?
  10. Hey guys! Our first PW project is online, finally: www.typneun.de So, please do not look into the code TOO close - we are designers, not coders, OK? We started to develop this little portfolio site about 2 years ago, but didn't find time to finish it. So it took nearly 1,5 years to get it done till oct 2012. That's why much stuff is not perfectly coded right now. The site was developed with static html-files - until tonight when I launched the PW-website. Modules we are using: procache multilanguage/german redirects formbuilder (not yet, will come soon) Actually this site was our second one on PW, but the first one is still in development and will go online in a few days. The experiences we made with this first site and the help I found in this forum made me switch to processwire for our own website. So, thanks to all of you guys! Any ideas or criticism to make the site better? Comments are welcome...
  11. Thanks, Dave - that module helped me to solve another problem: redirecting the old .html-files to the new PW-directories/pages. Perfect!
  12. Hi guys! Just opened my first thread - and forgot to tag it. And found no way to insert tags afterwards. Any suggestions? Or am I blind once again?
  13. Hey jploch! Joss and onjegolders just said it! Actually my profile would sound quite similar to yours: designer with zero PHP knowledge - and little motivation to do so (though it grew once I started using PW). And I‘ve already bought a book about PHP in the first place, cause I was expecting lot of PHP to handle PW. But it turned out as Joss said: for solving problem I visit the forum or look around in the PW-API or About section - and I find the solution(s). I'm still learning an still working on my first to websites - which both were static and pretty close to finished when I decided to make them dynamic via PW. But being independent from themes, plugins or whatever makes PW so much fun to work with. PW works exact the way I always thought CMSs would work (but they didn't, as I found out). So I would suggest: give PW a first try - and try to solve your needs by getting galleries and blogs to work just simply using PW. I'm sure - with the help of this forum - you will succed. (I'm hoping the same for my projects. )
  14. Whoa, is that your licence plate? Hoho, what a number.

Hi! Not finished yet, but already a great read for me: Mike Monteiro: "Design is a Job" Mike shares many thoughts and experiences from his design career. And guess: yeah, he is a funny guy...
  16. Thanks, diogo! Your post helped me to solve my (quite similar) problem. I'm still not used to the short version of this if-function - but the long version helped me understand it and to fill in the right pieces.
  17. @Nico: oh, well done... But hey: I just started using PW, and all of a sudden I‘m on such a website, mentioned as "German Developer"... OK, OK, I won‘t complain.

  19. Kind of the same experience here, speaking of typo3. I‘ve never been a developer for typo3, but as a designer working together with developers I had to touch typo3 from time to time. Strange thing was: the CMS was implemented because the client wanted to manage his content himself (yeah, great idea that was) - but he felt so uncomfortable using typo3, that he called US to change his content in typo3. And: it was the same for me. I just couldn‘t feel like "yeah, I really like working with typo3." Everything was slow, complicated, strange... Maybe it was just bad installations and bad servers - but everything was different when I first worked with Contao and Processwire. So I‘m quite optimistic I will stay I while here...
  20. Thanks, that helped me much! So easy - once you found it...
  21. Hi guys! Working on a 17inch-MacBook Pro - so glad i got the last generation of the big fella, now that Apple got rid of the 17ers... In the office there is a 27inch TFT from NEC. Since we are three people in our small design office, there is an old MacPro working as a server. Why Mac? Well, got into print in 1996 and never looked back. Actually looked back from time to time, but not long enough to switch to windows or linux. Although I really like Win8-Style and the great karma of Linux.

    Max, Cafe, Bar,

Hi diogo! Just to let you and others know: Strato offers a "SpeedPlus" package, which is free for existing customers - and makes backend and frontend faster. Not the best speed overall, but it is not annoying any longer...

    Max, Cafe, Bar,

Sorry to dig out this post again, but I want to ask a question regarding diogos problems with the slow strato server. I‘m struggling right now with a client‘s server from strato - frontend and backend are REALLY slow... Just would like to know how diogo and/or others handled this problem. Switching the whole site to a different ISP? Or upgrading the strato account? Thankful for every feedback!
