FieldtypeCropimage croppableimage issues on PW3.x

Fieldtypecropimage has been used extensively for years by us. This is essential when trying to control the aspect ratio of an image in a responsive environment. A good example of this is a slideshow, where you can allow the client to upload a 4:3 image and it display a letterbox shaped crop on the front-end.

However, neither FieldtypeCropimage or Croppableimage modules are working on PW 3.0.17

You can browse your computer for images but they just do not load.

Any ideas as I am stuck.

If there is no solution, can anyone help me downgrade my PW installation to 2.7 ?

Hello icreation,

the Form Builder Support area is probably the wrong place for this question. Maybe someone can move this.

As for your question: You could also achieve cropping via the API. Personally I haven't used these modules in a while, because I try to stick to the core image field. But you should give the module creators some time to catch up, because ProcessWire 3.0.17 is just a few days old. Downgrading from 3.0.17 to an previous version is not that easy I think. At least I tried to downgrade to 3.0.16 once and had some issues, although I haven't really looked into what especially was wrong.

So my advice is: Either wait for updates of the modules mentioned above or try to use the API.  ;)

Regards, Andreas

Edit: Downgrading is easy, just had to regenerate some thumbnails.

Are you using the correct branch of Croppable image? A new PW 3.x version was just posted by horst: https://processwire.com/talk/topic/8709-croppableimage/?p=119694

Downgrading from 3.x to 2.x has been easy for me - use the Upgrades module, or manually copy over /wire/, index.php, and .htaccess files from PW 2.x and it should be fine.
