Add a custom button or link to backend template

Hi, 

I'm wondering if it's possible to add a custom button or link to a backend template. 

Example: The orders of my online shop are saved as pages with the template "shop". Now it would be nice to have a button (or a link) in this template, which opens a page, which creates the invoice as PDF file.

 

Is there a way to add such a button or link?

Not sure if this helps, but for custom buttons i have recently made large usage of Kongondo's Runtime Markup field to create custom buttons and many other custom things (special information, tables of other pages, etc) to use on the page edit screen.
