Joomla ? por favor . . . . Opencart is very clear about this: It is an open cart spin off with new engine, archi, concepts and improvements.

1. Prestashop, opencart, and most others continue on the same old path with the same old momentum. Abantecart is open with it´s layout, templates, extensions, code blocks, details, etc. all directly accessible from a very powerful admin I have never seen before. They really haven´t forgotten anything, it´s all there and it all depends on how deep you want to go in the admin and modify what is there. The full install let´s you modify everything out of the box, for the shop you need. http://demo.abantecart.com/ 2. Much of it follows the same philosophy as processwire.

@=>n0sleeves, something not mentioned here before: - abantecart - http://abantecart.com/ecommerce-features Don't even know where to start, a very impressive and still easy admin, it even has the complete layout editable in the admin by letting you edit simple blocks of code, something that I pointed at before, not so long ago. Very clean and clear coded. Supports hooks. Self-hosted? yes - scalable? yes - extensions in separate folders? yes. Templates easy editable to change the front to your personal taste? yes. Forked or cloned from opencart? no. Has new engine, architecture and concepts. A shop system dream come true for both designers and coders. Is it really that good? yes - like the cms/cmf dream came true with processwire. Foxycart - opencart - prestashop - xyzcart ? ? => all history with abantecart. I know this will raise unbelieve and criticism, therefore I suggest to download, install, and see it happen for your self. Let me know if this was useful for you.

Been there. Unless you only want something simple, just a shop to sell in pw is not enough. The longer your shop is on-line, in the end, you are going to need things like: banner/product manager, categories, thick box, client base, who's on-line, statistics, client/sale history, auto registration/account, email double opt, auto email to clients who registered but never bought anything, currency, different payment gateways, secure digital download, auto email sale confirmation, newsletter, reviews. Banner/product manager can hold/play pics, music and clips.

Yes, a browser loads and executes js directly but not php. (need a server for that) would be nice to run php directly in the browser without the need for a server, just like js.
-
too bad you can not run php directly in the browser as easy like js.

You made my day diogo, thanks for the 2 links.

Friday 16 of May I post extra the date of this post because Google changes animations on regular basis and so this animation might disappear any moment. Did you see the animation on Google today ? Black dots moving over lines showing some geometric figure with in the middle a womans face in a circle. Google is not stupid, they know how to add to the look and feel of their search bar. My opinion is that this sort of animation is very usable for branding as well. It is not kitsch or cheap or too much, it just adds to the look and feel. Just replace the word google with a business or company name and the womans face with a Logo or a Brand Can anyone tell me how to make such an animation or point me to examples ? I really want to replicate this animation. Is it made with js or css or both ?

I uploaded that check from totoff to a free server just to see how it would work. It is supposed to check a hosting environment. Pete, did you check the contents of the folder check, or something else ?

Programming: you need to know all the angles and you have to be fast.

Looks like an average hoster. Keep an eye on how they handle the .htaccess file. Some hosters force you to use one, others don't allow all options.

@diogo: Thanks for that tip, will email them about that. I don´t have Illustrator myself but dreaming on buying it. It´s very usable for design, logos, prototyping, etc. but 750 dollar at amazon is gonna hurt a lot
-
Thanks for mentioning svg. Yes Illustrator has the option to export to svg. I will tell this to my client for possible solution.

I don´t think product text and layout should be part of the website layout. That part should be handed over to the client and the type of products he has. I already see webshops solving these problems with editable blocks inside the website layout.
-
We´ll right now I have a client with hundreds of product labels glued on small bottles that his company sells. They have all the text and label layouts inside illustrator. The same bottles are on his website and of course he wants the labels shown next to his bottles to inform visitors about what is inside his bottles. It is a huge lost of time for this client not being able to copy and paste his labels text and layout directly in his website text editor.
-
About those web site text editors and real life situations: Many clients ask me for an editor that keeps the formatting of the text they copy and paste. Examples of this are texts clients already have from their own products, catalogs, brochures, manuals, etc. etc. Many times the layout and formatting gets lost when pasting this text inside CKeditor, Tinymce and those little brothers and layout and formatting gets lost. Things like bullets, tabs, line spacing, columns, etc. etc. Then they have to re-edit everything all over again until it looks the same and lose a lot of time. Any solution for this ?

Great find, added it to my slider collection, thanks.

Looks overall professional. When you click on a slide button on the right, first white contour lines show up, then the whole picture is blended in. That looks very cool. Did you do that with sequencejs ?
