  1. Just playing with pinegrow. This really speeds up template building and style changing. Good find !
  2. aahh irc - the days of mIRC, wild channels and coding cowboys ---
  3. It's those kind of editors with that kind of attitude who usually end up with things like wp. And I don't agree with you because if you explain it to them then you give them a choice. It is them who are going to pay for the patches, repairs and down time. If they don't care about that l wouldn't like to be part of it.
  4. I wouldn't describe it that way but instead would describe it as: its versatility. Show them the uncluttered tabbed admin with the versatile "page" concept, the versatile use of any possible template, the versatile use of cms or cmf, the ease in maintenance for any webdeveloper they might have in the future, etc. And last but not least mention how many times wp was in the news last year with plugin attacks. And wp is again in the news with a zero-day leak in a famous plugin hitting around half a million users. Out of respect I won't post a link but it's easy to find. It's no use anyway to discuss popularity over quality.
  5. drowning in webshops - too many for my coding level
  6. guys thanks for the replies and @horst I didn't know about the live headers plugin for firefox, next time this will allow me to debug. I gave this a try: I simply copied the .ogg file to another server and tried again. Now it's working ! html5 <audio> Player now shows up in firefox and plays the file. So it was definitely a server end problem on the host. I am going to install the live headers plugin and want to see the difference between both servers.
  7. Sure, pdf, pictures, etc. But it's not so simple in this case. For example in Chrome the <audio> player shows up and starts to play the .ogg file. But when I enter the complete url path to this .ogg file, a download window pops up with open or save. In Firefox the player appears for a second and then disappears. If I enter the full url in Firefox also a window pops up with open or save with this info: application/x-msdownload Maybe the server where the .ogg file is hosted doesn't send the right or any mime types for firefox ? My last hope to solve this is on the hosting side.
  8. Thanks for the replies. I have only 1 file now just the ogg file and nothing else. Still the player disappears. Chrome plays it correctly. It looks like what charles posted that it must be a server side problem with mime types. Going to send an email to the hostmaster and clarify. Will post back.
  9. If I open the url directly it only asks me the file to either: open or save, like any other file.
  10. Hi, I am trying to put an interview online in a webshop. I am using the html5 audio tag <audio> --- </audio> It plays fine locally for both firefox and chrome and plays online in chrome so that means the html5 <audio> code and the ogg file should be ok. However it does not play online in firefox. When I open the webshop in firefox I can see the audioplayer appear for a moment and then it simply disappears. I parked the interview on a filehoster so the mp3 and ogg files don't take space away where the webshop is hosted. The code is very simple and straightforward: <p>Interview 3 Februar 2015</p> <p> <audio autoplay="" controls="" preload="auto"> <source src="http://domain.com/test1.mp3" type="audio/mpeg" /> <source src="http://domain.com/test2.ogg" type="audio/ogg" /> Your browser does not support the audio element. </audio> </p> Searching with google, the only thing that I found that I could have missed was about mime types and that those should be added in the .htaccess file so I did add the following: AddType audio/ogg .oga AddType video/ogg .ogv AddType application/ogg .ogg Like I said it plays in chrome but still no luck with firefox.
  11. Don't get me wrong, I tried a dozen cms'es that eventually made me land in processwire, a system that saves me a lot of time and headache, compared to the others. From what I read in your post I was referring to time. The more you get specialized in one way/tool/language, the less time you need to accomplish something with it. The question is: will a new way/tool save you more time than the time you save with getting more specialized in a specific way/tool.
  12. Don't learn the new way of the day. Stick with 1 worthy system, became specialized in it and you can accomplish any website.
  13. Just click in the menu on Home / Shop / Faqs / About / Contact you will see that they all show up with the same size, font and white color. It's been clearly made part of the design.
  14. Thanks for posting this, added to my tool urls.
  15. I don't think that was the point rajo was trying to make. We should try to write correct english the same as we try to write correct code.
  16. Thanks for posting this, at least somebody who cares.
  17. I have never done this before but I would not go for merging two pw installations. From what I have seen on the internet this should be possible with a data pipe. Note that duplicate posts can influence page ranking in Google: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en
  18. Hey join the club mate and with processwire you will save your self a lot of time and headache.
  19. What are you on, win, mac or linux ? Install wamp, mamp or lamp accordingly and do a local pw install. If no errors there than the problem is on your host, not in pw. Not seeing the admin while in a subdir with pw is usually a .htaccess, rewritebase problem, or some restrictions on your host that have to be commented back in the .htaccess file such as "options".
  20. Can you still login normally in the admin ? Did you locally develop the site in a subdirectory and moved the site to the webroot ? Did you check if your hosting php.ini settings match the ones on your local mamp ? Write permissions on your online folders (e.g. /site/assets /site/config.php ) ? You might also have to delete the session and cache files in the /site/assets directory. Check the database credentials in the file site/config.php on the server, are they adjusted to the online environment databasename, login etc ? When everything worked locally check the upload integrity to your host. During zip, ftp upload and unzip sometimes not everything makes it to the host. Call to a member function error is usually because some data is missing e.g. somewhere a function returns nothing where something is expected or some database object has ended up null. Check if you closed a connection too early or somehow got overrided. Alternative migrate: Sometimes errors don't show up when zipping up your complete site from local to host. In that case migrate your local site to your host as follows: 1. backup your local /site folder 2. backup your local database 3. erase all files, folders in the root and tables in your existing database on the host, if any 4. install a fresh processwire on the host 5. replace the /site folder with your local /site folder backup 6. erase all tables in your database on the host 7. import your local database backup If any errors they should manifest during this process to give you further debugging information. If no errors popped up during this process your site should work now.
  21. How did you find that customer ? Congratulations, customers in that field usually have a budget big enough to pay very good.
  22. But that is exactly what is behind it. We already are consumers in a consumption society but They want us to become consumers on a deeper level, consuming even more. Tech is making this all possible. The problem is that we are allowing this to happen and that's why it's penetrating deeper and deeper into our lifes. Remember the matrix where a human being was compared with a battery ? Fun to watch then but becoming very real today. Through Tech, our social life, behaviour, work, believes, etc, etc is literally powering companies like Google, Facebook, Apple, and more are on the rise. But the real problem is that we are allowing it. Nobody will admit it but we are in fact sheep following other sheep in their behaviour making those tech companies grow into our lifes. History shows that it will always take a strong individual who really stands up to stop the process.
  23. Well Soma, you are totally right about that. But then again I always wonder my self why so many people behave like silent sheep being robbed from democratic and human rights, year after year. It's almost a social taboo if you stand up against it. It really looks to me that people are afraid and do a good job hiding it.
  24. : Microsoft HoloLens, project holograms with a headset anywhere in your house or working place. Looks very cool. Looks to have way better functionality than google glass or todays augmented reality. It is said that this is going to work together with windows 10.
  25. Exactly.
