Hi

Following the release of Palette for MediaHub, the next companion module is here.

MediaHub AI brings provider-backed AI tools to your MediaHub fields, starting with AI-generated ALT text for your images.

What it does
MediaHub AI adds an AI tools group to the MediaHub Actions panel.
For any image in a MediaHub field or on the media library detail page, editors get:

  • Quick Alt :one click, one result. The AI analyses the image and writes a ready-to-use ALT description instantly.
  • 3x Options:asks for three alternatives so you can pick the best fit for the context.
  • SEO / preferred words: type in terms you want included before generating. Works best for words that truthfully fit what is in the image; anything that does not fit is left out.
  • Shorten: trims a chosen alternative to around 125 characters in one click.
  • Apply: writes the result straight into the ALT field. Save the page to keep it.
This first release works on one image at a time and generates ALT text in English. A multi-language version is already in testing and will follow shortly.

Backend config settings

All settings live in Modules > MediaHub AI:

Filename and title as context
Passes the image title and words from the filename to the AI as a hint. Only visible, meaningful words are used; camera codes and numeric IDs are ignored.

Site context
A short paragraph of house style or site facts sent with every request. Editors can override this per-image using the SEO words field in the dialog.

Output language
Tells the AI which language to write in. On multilingual sites, each language tab gets its own name so the AI writes in the right one.

Provider credentials (API key, model, provider name) are set in config (for now). Supported providers at launch: OpenAI, DeepSeek, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (bring your own key).

$config->MediaHubAI = [
    'provider' => 'openai',
    'providers' => [
        'openai' => ['apiKey' => 'sk-...', 'model' => 'gpt-4.1-nano'],
    ],
];

Free companion, same install pattern as Palette

Like Palette, MediaHub AI is a free companion. Install it alongside MediaHub, add a $config->MediaHubAI block to config with your provider key, and the AI tools group appears in the Actions panel automatically. No field or template changes needed.

More AI applications will follow. Thanks @Stefanowitsch for the suggestion.
