Find template in ready.php page reference (hooks) admin

Recommended Posts

Hi, can you guys help a beginner with a problem..

On my template (profile_page) i have a dropdown (page reference) where i can choose a sports team (team_page) that is related to that profile which is also its parent. Then on my Competition1 page (competition_page) I have page reference field (profiles) a dropdown that i want to display only profiles that has choose a specific sports team (template=team_page) the page parent to be specific.

Structure/Template

Sports_team1 (team_page)

     Profile1 (profile_page)
     Profile2 (profile_page)
     Profile3 (profile_page)
     Competition1 (competition_page)

ready.php

<?php
$wire->addHookAfter('InputfieldPage::getSelectablePages', function($event) {
  if($event->object->hasField == 'profiles') {
    $relative = $page->parent->name; $event->return = $event->pages->find("template=profile_page, sports_team=$relative");
  }
});
?>

This returns with no results in the dropdown. If i remove sports_team=$relative then it displays all profiles that have profile_page as template, so it works almost. But i will have more sports teams so this is just an example. I only want to display the profiles that has choosen the parent team on there profile page in admin not front end.

I hope i was able to explain it so you guys can understand a little bit. Need some help please! /Thanks

I don't completely understand your structure, but you are passing in only a name (not a complete path), so ProcessWire has no way of knowing where in your page tree the $relative page is located. If you use the ID instead, it should work:

$relative = $page->parent->id;
$event->return = $event->pages->find("template=profile_page, sports_team=$relative");

Thanks for your reply but still no results... if i remove

, sports_team=$relative

It will show all profile names so i works almost.

If i put that string on the actual page either id or name it will show just those profile names but on the admin maybe there is something different you have to write im clueless..

I managed to find a solution in another topic.

<?php
$wire->addHookAfter('InputfieldPage::getSelectablePages', function($event) {
  if($event->object->hasField == 'profiles') {
    $page = $event->arguments('page');
    $event->return = $event->pages->find("template=profile_page, team_page={$page->parent}");
  }
});
?>

@Flashmaster82 That's the same thing. {$page->parent} evaluates to the parent page's ID. The difference is that you're now using "team_page" instead of "sports_team". The query needs to match the name of the field you're using to select the sports team on the profile_page, so make sure to use the correct field names.

      Hi, Everyone!
      I'm currently working on a page reference field and set it for multiple pages (AsmSelect) for the input. Is there a way for me to add an image field (aka Avatar) and the title of page in the radio button?
      I used the field name enclosed in the { }. Didn't work. It appeared a text instead.
      Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soon!

      Hi! 😄
      SITE SETUP / DESCRIPTION:
      What? Online art magazine with an "All featured works" and also an "All featured artists" index page, and also individual "Work" and "Artists" pages, and data relations between the different artists and their artworks.
      So, I have two different page reference fields, connected by @Robin S's awesome Connect Page Fields module (though that has nothing to do with the issue in fact, Robin's plugin works great! and the issue is the same with or without it).
      The two Page Reference type fields are called "works" and "artists". They are meant to simply connect different artists to different artworks.
      Fx:
      Work 1  (page)  –> artists (Page Reference field) : Artist A (page)           --->>> (automatically connected)         Artist A (page)  –> works (Page Reference field) : Work 1 (page)
      Work 2  (page) –> artists (Page Reference field) : Artist B  (page)           --->>> (automatically connected)         Artist B (page)  –> works (Page Reference field) : Work 2 (page)
      ISSUE:
      On both Page Reference fields, both on "artists" and on "works" this option "Allow unpublished pages" is activated:

      As it says in the option description, supposedly, unpublished pages should be selectable in the page reference field, but they should not be visible, they shouldn't appear, on the front-end...
      Frontend:
      To show all works related to the artist on the artist individual page I'm doing this:
      <?php foreach($page->works as $item) { echo "<img src='{$item->image->first->width(200)->url}' class='pr-2'><a class='pr-4' href='$item->url'>$item->title</a>"; } The problem is now, unexpectedly, if some work is set to "Unpublished", it shows up anyways!
      WORKAROUND:
      So to get around this I figured out that I can do this:
      <?php foreach($page->works as $item) { if($item->is(Page::statusUnpublished)) { return; }; echo "<img src='{$item->image->first->width(200)->url}' class='pr-2'><a class='pr-4' href='$item->url'>$item->title</a>"; } But ofc this is a rather inelegant "solution" which shouldn't really be necessary, right?
      I might be missing something basic here, but really can't figure out what it is... I hope one of you awesome guys can help me out 😊
      Thanks a lot in advance!
      All the best,
      Jonatan

      Continuing my journey into PW hooks, I'm trying to find a way to retrieve all images from a page that explicitly *do not* have a certain tag (or tags) attached to them.
      Found this post from 2015
      But I'm wondering if there's a more elegant way to go about this.
      Let's say I have a multi-image field called "images_header" and instead of
      $page->images_header->findTag('mytag'); I would like to do this:
      $page->images_header->excludeTag('mytag'); So I'd be able to do
      // find images that don't have the tag "mytag" $images = $page->images_header->excludeTag('mytag'); // check if there's any images if (count($images)>0) { // do something.. } Would this be possible by hooking into Pagefiles somehow?
      There's this bit in /wire/core/Pagefiles.php Line 626 that I'd basically just need to reverse (or at least in my mind 😄 )
      public function findTag($tag) { $items = $this->makeNew(); foreach($this as $pagefile) { if($pagefile->hasTag($tag)) $items->add($pagefile); } return $items; } Any ideas on how this could be done in a graceful manner?
      Thanks in advance!

      Getting a little deeper into the ProcessWire state-of-mind here. I seriously think I wouldn't have come back to webdev if it wasn't for this wonderful little gem of a CMS.
      I have an "Options" field added to all users on a site. If the user has anything other then "default" selected, I would like to show a permanent message in the admin like the one in the screenshot, only so that the user can't close it. As a friendly reminder that he changed that option from default to something crazy 🙂
      I've read up on how to send messages to users, but where would I hook into to make this show up all the time in the backend?
      https://processwire.com/api/ref/wire/message/
      Thanks in advance!

      Hello,

      Here's what I'm trying to achieve : I have a textarea field that is frontend editable on any page I want to. If a user with a specific role updates it, I want to tick a checkbox field on the parent page where the textarea resides. So I tried to hook as follows in my ready.php file :

        $this->addHookBefore('Fieldtype::savePageField', function(HookEvent $event) {       $page = $event->argument[0];       $field = $event->argument[1];       if($this->user->hasRole('teacher')) {      $page->alertBox = 1;       } // DEBUG HERE (bd($page),  l($field)... ????   }); Of course (!) it doesn't work (yet !) but the thing is I have no idea how to debug this since my bd() never triggers. I've tried the 'Event interceptor' of Tracy debugger which helped me setting up my hook. I guess my $page and $field are correct... but how could I go any further ?
      The road is long to become a dev (when you're not one 🙂 )...
      For further information in case someone wonders : I'd like to set up a textarea that is modified by a user (having a 'player' role, ie 'student'). When front-end modified, I wish it would automatically alert me (the teacher) by ticking a box. So when I log in with my teacher role, I get a list of all textareas I have to read over. When I read/correct/update them (front-end), I would like my hook to automatically untick the box to remove it from my list. In other words, the 'textarea' status should go back and forth according to who modified it last. For the time being, I have managed to make it work with a checkbox that the user has to manually tick/untick, but I've noticed many kids forget to tick the box so they edit their text and I don't get a notice 😞
      Thanks if anyone takes time to try and help me on that one !
