Website with User Profiles - Easily add new Users who can edit/create "their" Pages only

Recommended Posts

I have a website that allows users to create their personal "website" (a page with sub-pages).

Users shall be able to:

  • Log in (frontend and/or admin),
  • Edit "their" page(s) - I am using the "Page Edit Per User"-module (https://modules.processwire.com/modules/page-edit-per-user/) to grant access to the relevant pages
  • Create child pages - possible?
  • Users shall not be able to see other pages in the admin interface - "Admin Restrict Page Tree" may do the trick (https://modules.processwire.com/modules/admin-restrict-page-tree/)?
  • Frontend editing shall be possible - I am considering "Fredi" (https://modules.processwire.com/modules/fredi/) for this.

The challenge is that it takes a lot of modules and configuration.
Is there a way to set this up that doesn't require a lot of configuration for each new user?

@adrian I do have one question: Users are allowed to create sub-pages in their branch, is it possible to restrict the templates, users can select? For instance, a Contact Page is created by me - and the user shall not be able to create an additional Contact Page.

Template Once Per Parent seems to do the trick?

This is really beyond the goal of this module, but glad you found a solution in that other module.

The Minimal Site works fine, but if I try to login as admin, I have no idea what the credentials are.
I did not do the "install" process myself. The OVA came with everything set up, but there's no mention of the PW admin credentials being set to some initial value.
Wondering if anyone else has tried the Bitnami OVA and if there's a simple answer.

I don't have any fontawesome icons in the admin section. Not sure what's wrong. They used to appear. I've tried all the user profiles and they're gone in all of them.
Using the browser inspector tool, I see this message:
Access to font at 'https://www.domain.com/wire/templates-admin/styles/font-awesome/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.ttf?v=4.7.0' from origin 'http://domain.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
I'm not sure why this is occurring or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I've just discovered Processwire and I'm absolutely loving how clean it is. Especially with the full control over what it outputs.
Excuse me if this is a really stupid question.
What happens if a user wants to insert multiple images into the blog field? In other words Shift+Click all the images attached to a specific page in and insert. It seems I can insert one at a time but not multiple.

Based on the above, I want to rebuild my website. I'm a photographer (ex php dev 2004) and plan also to target websites at other photographers. So inserting multiple images into blog posts is a key part. I'd like to output that to something like UIkit or some kind of Masonry Gallery script. Any thoughts would be fantastic please.
      Thank you.
      Greg.
I'm an ex PHP developer now photographer, now thanks to Corona and not photo work, a rusty PHP developer 😁

Getting a little deeper into the ProcessWire state-of-mind here. I seriously think I wouldn't have come back to webdev if it wasn't for this wonderful little gem of a CMS.
I have an "Options" field added to all users on a site. If the user has anything other then "default" selected, I would like to show a permanent message in the admin like the one in the screenshot, only so that the user can't close it. As a friendly reminder that he changed that option from default to something crazy 🙂
I've read up on how to send messages to users, but where would I hook into to make this show up all the time in the backend?
      https://processwire.com/api/ref/wire/message/
      Thanks in advance!

Here's a small new module that adds a "Manage tags" button to the template list, just like the field list already has.
Easily add, remove and change tags for your templates.
