Single-site license question: what about localhost?

Hi,

This is my first post in these remarkable forums, I'm new to ProcessWire and I've had loads of questions but I just keep finding them already answered here! 

Except for this one - I bought a single-site license for a commercial module and when I try to install it on localhost it asks for the license key. Will I then be able to use this key on my live site as well, and also possibly on other localhost installations? Or will I have to import it in some way? Please let me know how the terms apply.

Welcome to the forums nickie. What is the module you are referring to? The licenses are different from module to module. The ideal would be to ask this question on the module's own support page.

There aren't many commercial modules though, and three of them are from Ryan, and if you purchased them, you must have received the links to their support forums. The other one that I know of is minimize.pw, if that's the one, maybe you can ask in their announcement post http://processwire.com/talk/topic/5404-processimageminimize-image-compression-service-commercial/

Nickie, please send me a PM indicating which product you got so that I can upgrade your access to the board. We assume that you are going to using the product key on one or more staging and development servers. We don't place limits on how many times the key can be used, other than if a product key intended for single use starts showing up on multiple production servers for different sites, then we'd inquire about it. But we all use the same key between development and production servers for an individual site, and that's encouraged.
