For the mac talk part — just solved two things that I had in linux and was annoying me not to have them in the mac: not being able to define the default apps for all extensions in one place, and that the + green button wouldn't really maximize the windows

+1 for the RCDefaultApp - I should have mentioned that one in my list. I find that really important too!

I was tempted to use the windows maximizer, but decided I would try the Mac way - not really panning out for me :) There is a great article somewhere about this but I can't find it at the moment. Basically talks about people who like to have typical overlapping windows on a Mac, vs fully maximized windows on Windows and something about being better multi-taskers, or something like that. Sounds like rubbish to me :)

not being able to define the default apps for all extensions

mark a file, cmd+i, check the according checkbox (sorry, don't know what it is named in English)

and that the + green button wouldn't really maximize the windows

it's worth the 1,99. The funny thing is, that it brings MS Windows functionality to the Mac - finally.

@totoff, read again ;)

for all extensions in one place

As for the second, I really just wanted t be able to maximize the windows, and that app does it perfectly. In Linux I always had great snap windows capabilities and never used them that much. Still, I'm very surprised with how poor the windows management is on mac.

Next thing I would like to find is a way of easily closing windows from inside mission control

Found it: with the free Better Touch Tool it's possible to do this by assigning the action "close window below cursor" to a keyboard command or a combination of key and mouse (I assigned ⌘ + right-click). This tool also has snapping windows capabilities ;)
