diogo
For the mac talk part — just solved two things that I had in linux and was annoying me not to have them in the mac: not being able to define the default apps for all extensions in one place, and that the + green button wouldn't really maximize the windows http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/ http://www.blazingtools.com/right_zoom_mac.html
adrian
+1 for the RCDefaultApp - I should have mentioned that one in my list. I find that really important too! I was tempted to use the windows maximizer, but decided I would try the Mac way - not really panning out for me There is a great article somewhere about this but I can't find it at the moment. Basically talks about people who like to have typical overlapping windows on a Mac, vs fully maximized windows on Windows and something about being better multi-taskers, or something like that. Sounds like rubbish to me
Martijn Geerts
Stupid me, I was searching the net to the exact prefpane you're linking to [RCDefaultApp] Works great BTW.
Martijn Geerts
This week updated MacOSX to work with Atom at work. Working at home with Atom for a few days & now I'm able to use it in the company. I love this new editor !
totoff
not being able to define the default apps for all extensions mark a file, cmd+i, check the according checkbox (sorry, don't know what it is named in English) and that the + green button wouldn't really maximize the windows https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bettersnaptool/id417375580?mt=12 it's worth the 1,99. The funny thing is, that it brings MS Windows functionality to the Mac - finally.
diogo
@totoff, read again for all extensions in one place As for the second, I really just wanted t be able to maximize the windows, and that app does it perfectly. In Linux I always had great snap windows capabilities and never used them that much. Still, I'm very surprised with how poor the windows management is on mac. Next thing I would like to find is a way of easily closing windows from inside mission control Found it: with the free Better Touch Tool it's possible to do this by assigning the action "close window below cursor" to a keyboard command or a combination of key and mouse (I assigned ⌘ + right-click). This tool also has snapping windows capabilities
Soma
Use "shift" + greenbutton to maximize window.
diogo
Soma, that didn't work with me before installing that tool
Soma
Uhm, I'm using this since years in macos to maximize the window. The only tool I have and can't live without is TotalFinder.
