I identified what bothers me. The globe and the photographic camera are in the same layer, to me it makes the movement less natural.

Edit: somehow I instinctively expect the object to come to the mouse and not go away from it when i approach them.

Really cool design Benby, I like it a lot and it really looks the part.

Not sure why a couple of the drawings light up but don't go anywhere and the scroll to top button doesn't appear to be working.

I tend to agree. The design concept is good, but the elements that highlight on mouseover but do nothing are a bit confusing. I would say that most users would expect them to link to somewhere, and I don't understand why the pile of books sends you to the top of the page?
