In case it's helpful, one thing I've thought would be good for the fixed/floating panel is the Save button, when editing lots of copy it would be nice to have Save visible (zero clicks away) all the time (just as 'Latest updates' etc is in your current theme).

Purely by fluke the colour scheme is similar to one I'm working on but the layout will be very different.
