Hello everybody!

This is my first post after several weeks of lurking around on this forum  ^_^

As a MODX user i've been looking for an alternative with proper backend customization. After looking around i think i've found the perfect alternative with Processwire. So first of all thanks to Ryan and the community for this wonderful project and i'm feeling excited to start using it for live projects!

I've fiddled around with some local sites just to get a feeling of PW, and now attempted to install one on my hosting. This didn't seem to work out as planned: I keep getting the same error "no install.php found". I've read the readme and did some basic troubleshooting with it, but no avail :(

I filled in the db settings in the config.php file.

My htaccess file is being read properly (checked with the 500 error), so the error must come from something else.

Where do I go from here? Can someone put me in the right direction? I am a frontend developer so forgive me for not being as verbose as I should be...

Thanks in advance,

proud to have made my first post on this forum!

Kudos to all!

Welcome, Snd, to the forum. Glad to have you aboard!

It sounds like you copied the install from local to remote without actually performing the install on your remote, which is fine (See this topic or this one). Your DB settings are set in config.php, but, have you checked to see if the database does exists on your remote machine?

Hi @Snd,

Welcome to PW and the forums.

Can you confirm you have install.php on your server? (assuming you FTP'ed new files for a new installation)...Otherwise, what @rick said...

Edit: Beaten be @rick :-)

The hoster I use is 'Neostrada', a local hosting company.

I've got wordpress, MODX, and codeigniter sites running. All without any installation problems.

Running php version 5.6

Only caveat I can think of is the fact I don't have a domainname linked yet. So currently I'm working with server-ip-address/~user . Can this cause any problems?

I am using the master.zip straight from the pw website, so yes the install.php files resides in the root dir. Also, the db exists and username/password are correct.

EDIT: wow such response, much quick  ^_^ and thank you guys for being so welcoming

Server IP/~user RewriteBase may need to be set in htaccess.

Are you running apache2.4+ (See comments in htaccess regarding versions).

Thanks Rick!

Your solution worked, I had to add the rewrite rule.

Tried that before, but did it wrong, doh!

Cheers
