Downgrade ProcessWire from 2.4 to 2.3?

Is it possible to downgrade ProcessWire from 2.4.0 to  2.3.0?

Is this as easy as replacing core files with version 2.3.0 files, or is modification to the 2.4.0 database needed?

I made once, just replacing the wire folder, index.php and htaccess, same procedure for the upgrade but reversed
