MarkE
I have a site which has been in regular use for several years. I now have a new user with a MacBook (not sure of exact version). This user has a weird problem when adding a new page. See below for what looks like a standard page add screen. but immediately after typing the 's', this is what happens: The name field turns into a fieldset containing the login (which then fails). No other user has this problem. This user does not have the problem on any other device (iPhone, Windows PC). Any ideas what is going on here? Thanks! wbmnfktr
Ask for browser name, version, and all extensions installed. Even ask if the person is using a VPN or is sitting behind a PiHole or Adguard instance. One coincidence... the user is using an Apple and the page path contains `Apple(s)`. Another thing, the path has a weird prefix in the breadcrumb: `\Apples` Might be nothing, but these are my first thoughts.
Peter Knight
Isnt this just Apples new inbuilt password manage trying to be helpful? You should be able to prevent it either on the browser level or globally via the Settings?
howdytom
It is definitely related to Apple’s built-in password Manager and the Safari Autofill feature. The user could have saved the logins twice e.g. with different urls?! However it doesn’t explain why name field turns into a fieldset. Somehow Safari tries to Autofill the username field. Since it is working on iOS, I do recommended to completely remove and add the PW site login to the Apple Password Manager (in Applications → Passwords). So far, I haven’t seen this kind of behaviour in Safari. Alternatively, a quick but not ideal workaround is to temporarily disable Autofill feature in Safari Settings → General > AutoFill & Passwords, then turn off User name and passwords. A Screen capture could be useful
