OrganizedFellow
My most ambitious project is on the horizon ? ? ? They want a forum and it would have to integrate users/profiles with the PW being built. What do you all wonderful people recommend?!
LostKobrakai
You could likely skip the "… that can integrate with PW" part and get similar answers, besides maybe less favoring of PHP based solutions. The only modern forum software I'd recommend today is discourse. It's modern, but doesn't try too hard to be "different". Everything else I had my hands on either feels/looks dated or is not there (yet)/will never be there in terms of being a forum.
Beluga
Nothing integrates with PW, so you have to do the work ? Use Flarum, if you want a Discourse-like experience, but with PHP. phpBB is still kicking and they use Symfony now. A new default theme is being built. Vanilla is actively developed as well. If you want to use Node.js, there is NodeBB. If you want blazing speed, you can use AsmBB. SimpleMachines and MyBB have grown stale, development is super slow.
entschleunigung
we cannot talk about forum software here without mentioning https://xenforo.com/ ?
joer80
Why is no one suggesting Invision Community? Its the forum software we are on right now.
applab
Has anyone implemented Flarum yet? I like the look of it but I'm concerned that it seems to be in perpetual beta. My top contender at the moment is Vanilla but it's use of Smarty is putting me off.
