Martijn Geerts
It's a returning thing we all have, adding personal/company information on a website. Would it be beneficial to have a fieldtype that handles all that contact information ? What do you think ?
benbyf
usually add this to the home page as 'settings' like fields, agree it might be nice to have a formal way of doing it or a seperate module created page
SiNNuT
I'm not sure a fieldtype/inputfield would be able to handle this elegantly. Sometimes you want to use microformats, another time you might need/want a scheme form schema.org with microdata markup. The data to represent persons and/or businesses/organisations isn't always the same.
Martijn Geerts
It's been on my mind for quite a long time. The reason I didn't start it is the reason you mentioned. Maybe someone comes up with a genius solution.
alan
FWIW After reading The Truth About HTML5 and also because Google, Microsoft and Yahoo all piled in on schema.org (and agreed something!), even tho' I loved and used http://microformats.org/ before I now standardize on using schema.org micro format markup. The ability to auto-add micro format data to content sounds very good, I just expect there to be enough permutations that I would likely need to hand mark up content often as well and so I wonder if auto added micro format data could ever take over. If it could it would be a boon
SiNNuT
You could probably come up with a module or inputfield/fieldtype that can hold some of the most common stuff like http://schema.org/PostalAddress But for example http://schema.org/Person ,there is just too much stuff that is or isn't aplicable dependent on the project at hand.
