Site Transfer Woes

Hoping I can get some assistance with this. I have a client with a site running 2.5.3 that wishes to leave their current host and use my rackspace host. I've used the site export module and downloaded the backup through FTP. The current host has sent me a backup of the SQL database to restore. After following the directions, I'm receiving many errors. I'm thinking this is due to the different versions (I can only find version 2.6.1. Is there something I'm missing in performing this migration?

Hi! Maybe the Installation, Moving and Troubleshooting post can help you: https://processwire.com/docs/tutorials/installation-moving-and-troubleshooting/

Update: I forgot to say that you can download any previous versions on Github: 2.5.3 -> https://github.com/ryancramerdesign/ProcessWire/tree/2.5.3

Direct link for download: https://github.com/ryancramerdesign/ProcessWire/archive/2.5.3.zip

What errors you get?

I'd suggest to generate a .zip file of the whole installation. Download it, reupload and unzip it on the new server. Then you need to modify the database credentials in the config.

Good to know.

The error i'm getting now is: Fatal error: Call to a member function numChildren() on a non-object in /mnt/stor2-wc1-dfw1/393818/949238/www.gocapitolequipment.com/web/content/wire/core/Pages.php on line 754

My code-fu is nowhere near strong enough to make sense of what I should do here.

When ever I had this error message I simply did a google/processwire search on

"call to a member function ... on a non-object ... on line" and found the solution.

I am sure this will work in your case also.
