Spotted this on my evening walk up to the town square so snapped a few photos. Later I saw it drive off, and those middle wheels folded up into the body of the vehicle kind of like airplane landing gear. Anyone else ever seen one of these?

Yes, this car is reason enough to create off topic subforum!

Actually I've been meaning to set this up for awhile, but finally got a few minutes to do it yesterday and didn't want to start it out blank. :)

This aint no car - it's a motorcycle with an aerodynamic body and a trick kick-stand. Bet it gets near 100 mpg...

Shhhh. Let Ryan think it's a car!

lol  ;D

I thought "vehicle" means any transportation device in English.

Shhhh. Don't let Adam know that he is the only one who said that one is a car.

It's not a car or a motorcycle... it's a monotracer.

Did a little more research about these "monotracers", and sounds like they are made in Switzerland and built around some BMW motorcycle parts.

So far I can't figure out how much they cost or where/if you can even buy one.

They also have the eTracer, which is an all-electric version.

Wow, not cheap. Where did you find that? I'm guessing a child's car seat won't fit so well in their either. :)

Nothing from Switzerland is cheap :) Found this article (in Finnish): http://www.hilavitkutin.com/2008/04/14/monotracer-on-futuristinen-katettu-moottoripyora/

Article is written in 2008 and says that you can order one for yourself for Christmas 2008. It's not a concept design, real product manufactured in factory lines.

Price 52 500 euros is without taxes. So in Finland that would be much more expensive. From some other article (or youtube comment...) I found that there are only 400 of those around.

Thanks for the link. Nice photos in that story too (love the cockpit photo). Amazing there's only 400 of them. But I guess given what it is, the cost is pretty prohibitive. But for someone with money that wants a supercar for the attention, perhaps this is a much better value (and grabs more attention) than any Ferrari or Lamborghini.

issue #1: you can't get blown while driving
