Goca Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Hi there! I tried to look through the forums, but couldn't find what I was looking for, and just had a quick question. I'm building a site that tracks a user's progress through material, as well as attaching different meta data to a user. Is it safe to add fields to the User system template, such as first-name, last-name, current-module, etc.? I wouldn't remove any of the standard fields that are a part of the User template. I guess it's also worth asking, would the LoginRegisterPro module be best to use for something like this? Thanks!
netcarver Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Yes, you can do that, or you can use an alternative user template as well. LRP supports collecting these additional fields as part of the registration process and/or allowing users access to these fields in their profiles. 1
Gideon So Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 Yes. It is OK to add any fields to the user template. I have built a project with this method and see no draw backs so far. Gideon
Goca Posted July 24, 2021 Author Posted July 24, 2021 Thank you both for the replies! Little by little I'm learning which areas of ProcessWire are okay to customize, and figured it was best to check. ?
