Soma
Would this be possible with the current PW? I sense that it's not possible yet but know it's on the roadmap. Would it require to have versioning done first, or could there be some trick to archive this? A link opening a window showing the current edited unsaved content? Guess it's not that simple. Adam Kiss
This could be possible with new pages, less with modified pages – via 'guest account'. Of course, that will make your workflow a little bit harder, but possible: Create page keep it unpublished uncheck guest publish it test it, edit it, test it check guest access and publish it with it done. ryan
There is no guest to uncheck in 2.1 on the page itself (it's in the template settings), so that would be the way to do it with 2.0. With 2.1, you'd just want to keep it unpublished and view it that way. No solution yet for previewing changes to already published pages, but ultimately it won't be too difficult to implement. In fact, draft versions were originally in 2.0 and they'll be coming back. I took them out shortly before releasing 2.0 because: it was one of those things that worked, but I felt was more code behind-the-scenes than the value it provided, so it got the axe. So figured I'd come back to it when I found a simpler way to accomplish it. Now there is a simpler way thanks to the new $pages->clone() function. So in the future when you click "save draft", it'll clone a hidden/unpublished sibling partner page (that you won't see in the PageLIst). When you edit the original, it'll load the partner page instead until you either publish (overwriting the original) or abandon the draft. It won't take much more than a days work, so may try to work it in at some point soon, but most likely it'll come shortly after 2.2.
Soma
Thanks adamkiss for the suggestion! Thanks Ryan for the insight, awesome. That would be a nice to have feature. The client already asked if there's a way. Good to know it will come soon.
Nico Knoll
I would like to have this feature, too. I guess WordPress is a good example how to make it. (I guess it's the most clicked button when I am using it )
