Unable to insert images in a text field

I can upload images to a page. However, when I try to insert it in a text field, I get a blank image selector.

I'm working with Processwire 3.0.259, PHP 8.3.33. I tried, in local development, to replace the PHP with older versions, but the site doesn't work with them any more with <8.3.33.

When I try to insert an image in the text field, I get this:

• with cke editor: a blank "Select image";
• with tinymce: a brief error message, followed by a blank "Select image". Here's the message:

In fact recently I get frequent errors "Attempt to read property <whatever> on null".

I recently uploaded modules Image Library and Image Reference (this one corrected from a bug on reading null).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try upgrading to the latest PW dev version - I think this was likely fixed there a long time ago.

I suspect the problem with <Select image> comes from the fieldtype Image Reference. Probably that module or its hooks was breaking something. After removing the field from the template, the <Select image> is working again.

It is a pity, because the ability to reference images would save me many hours of work (editing time) and a lot of server space.

As for the other problems (deprecated reading on null values), I will need more time to test.
As a last resource, I will follow your suggestion to install a dev version - not eager to do that on a production site, to be honest.
