CeMcc
Hi there, I've gone with pagegrid for a client site, and it's been working pretty well. I really like the ease that my clients have modifying content themselves, it makes processwire work for the kind of hands on client that i'm working with. But I'm having a issue with the home page- I keep getting a gateway timeout on the edit page. No other page has this issue. The issue has been present for a 2-3 days now. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this/ has anyone experience the same thing? If it were a personal site I would just wait and see, but as i'm on a slight deadline, I figured i'd reach out and see if anyone has advice. Thanks!
elabx
Have you checked your server load? This is my most common case for this timeouts.
jploch
@CeMcc Thanks for using PAGEGRID. Like @elabx sad this could be an issue with your server. But it's a bit strange that it's only happening on the homepage. If I understand correctly this is only happening in the backend and not in the frontend? Are there any redirects happening in the home template? Are you using markup regions with the option to auto append the main.php file? Are there any custom blocks that are only on the homepage? If possible can you share the code you have in your home template?
CeMcc
Hi @jploch & @elabx thanks for the input That's what I'm thinking, too. I'm using the cloud hosting at the moment though, so I don't have access to the markup to share. It seems to occur when I have to many changes at once. I ended up applying a blank blueprint to the page and then recreating all of the content. Since then i've been trying to save everything as a symbol so that in cases of issues I can remove one symbol. I've encountered the gateway error once since then but was able to resolve it by removing the item on the page. I'm noticing the site hanging on saving and getting stuck while saving- so I imagine that's the same server response time issue. If I switch to my own hosting would you expect this will solve things? Is there anything I need to pay attention when selecting hosting to avoid this? Thanks !
jploch
@CeMcc Sorry for the trouble and thanks for reporting it. This is not something that happend to me before with any PAGEGRID site, it could be something with the server or with your setup, but it's hard to know. Can you send me a DM with the email that you used for your cloud account? Like this I can check the logs and maybe find the cause of it.
elabx
Did this thread cursed me? (jk) Monday first hour and I have a site that's going through very odd gateway timeouts 🤣 EDIT: Indeed, server load! PHP hits hard, always have a cache layer! 😄
