Alan N Posted Thursday at 10:36 AM Posted Thursday at 10:36 AM Hi all, I'm looking at using ProcessWire for the first time. I have used Joomla for a long time through my employment but am looking for something less heavy for other projects. I have extensively used Joomla's modules (mostly the custom HTML ones) and leaned heavily on its ability to publish those modules on specific pages in specific positions. Is there anyone that has switched from Joomla that could let me know about their experience? Thank you in advance.
Peter Knight Posted Friday at 05:13 PM Posted Friday at 05:13 PM Hi Alan, I can’t honestly say I’ve migrated a site from Joomla. However, some time ago I briefly had to use Joomla for a client site. I recall often wondering why simple things in ProcessWire were so unnecessarily complicated in Joomla. Possibly no help to you but I think you’ll quickly like PW. P
Alan N Posted Saturday at 02:48 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:48 PM Hi Peter, Thanks for your reply. It's always awkward when comparing. I never considered Joomla as complicated - but then nothing is when you're used to it! Unfortunately, I've not got past first base as after 3 installations of ProcessWire on different hosts, everything in admin is locked and displays padlocks - the admin also shows a key icon which suggests a lock of some sorts. I tried adding a new superuser but logging in with that one made no difference. I'm still looking for what I might have missed but no luck so far! Regards, Alan 2
Peter Knight Posted Saturday at 03:37 PM Posted Saturday at 03:37 PM Hi Alan. That’s sounds odd and not a very good first impression. 😬 Do you mean you can access the admin but the pages in the tree have lock icons displayed beside each? Any way to share screenshots? P
Alan N Posted Saturday at 05:13 PM Author Posted Saturday at 05:13 PM Hi Peter, I'm away at moment so can't send screenshot. In the admin tree the "admin" link at the top has a key icon. All the pages below and other links have black padlock icons. It feels as if it's something that is enabled during installation that you disable once installed. I've not had time to dig into it. Thank you, Alan
