FormBuilderAltcha – self-hosted ALTCHA spam protection for FormBuilder
Spam protection for ProcessWire FormBuilder forms using ALTCHA.

I've released a small module that adds ALTCHA proof-of-work spam protection to FormBuilder forms.

Before a form is submitted, the visitor's browser quietly solves a small computational challenge. The server only accepts submissions with a valid solution that hasn't been used before. Bots that post forms directly or don't run JavaScript get rejected.

Features

• Fully self-hosted: no external service, no API key, no cookies
• No image puzzles for your visitors
• Enabled per form under Actions › Filter spam › ALTCHA
• Three difficulty levels (about 0.2 s, 0.5 s or 2 s)
• Two display modes: a checkbox above the submit button, or a popup that appears on submit
• Replay protection, so each solution can only be used once
• Optional logging of failed checks (form-builder-altcha)
• Test mode to simulate failures. It only applies to logged-in FormBuilder users, so visitors are never affected
• Translatable, with a German translation included. The widget follows the language of the current page.
• Requirements: PHP 8.1+, ProcessWire 3.0.200+, FormBuilder, HTTPS

You don't need Composer, because all dependencies are bundled.
To install, use Modules › New › Add Module From URL:
