Fields and context drop down

I just noticed today the drop down select for context on fields in the admin.

What is this for?

Certain settings for fields can be changed on a per-template basis; ie. the label of your "title" field for template "person" could be "name" instead of "title". When used properly this helps keep code between templates similar, fields reusable and things in admin interface logical

This is essentially the same thing as clicking a field name while in the template editor. It opens a modal there, but it's the same thing (template-field context).
