Initial Installation Error

So... as it seems your MariaDB isn't configured as it should be.

What kind of setup are you using?
DDEV, Laragon, local installation, or remote?

You might want to get MariaDB fixed first. As far as I can tell, this isn't ProcessWire's fault.

For the future tell us a bit more about everything.
Setup, ProcessWire version, PHP version, and all these nice little details.

For now I can only suggest that you look that error message up and check the solutions provided there.

CloudLinux 9 / Alma Linux 9

php 8.3

mariadb 10.11 (the database is up and running as normal)

installing using the zip file - uploaded the zip file to my public_html directory - extracted the zip file which created the progresswire-master directory then from my browser I ran the install.php file.

But .... I just saw that in addition to the install.php file there was another install file called:

installmaster.php

so I tried that and low and behold it worked just fine .... no mention of sockets ....

I guess all is well that ends well - but I did get some error messages:
