page reference fieldtype not unique

I would like to have a page reference field where I can store references to pages, but also to some pages twice or more. When I save a selection of pages, where one page is more often than one time selected, only the last reference is stored.

Is there a way of doing something like 1|2|3|1|4 instead of 2|3|1|4? Did I miss a setting, or does this field only store unique entries? Would a repeater be a solution, or are there better ones?

Don't think you are missing anything. My first idea was a repeater.
