  1. I'm Jeremy Allen. I have a company called "Investor HQ" and we do a lot of stuff with real estate that makes our investors more money than we make ourselves! I don't want a website that is set up to attract new clients, I have enough, I just want one that can report to my investors WTF is going on with their investments. Everyone wants to sell me something or give me advice about what to put on the website and what not to....Firstly, an IT professional is hardly the person to give me advice on marketing! and secondly, I don't want to market, I just want a cool experience for my current clients...does that make sense?
  2. Look, the reality is that I just don't have the time to learn all this....and to be honest, Coda probably won't deliver exactly what I want to deliver albeit an excellent concept. But I do need someone that can understand me, especially if English is not their first language, and was able to give me what I wanted from a completely hypothetical situation that would have been taken seriously by most! What's your name?
  3. Um....Yes! exactly like that! I can't believe the most complex PM systems on the planet don't cater for this and something as simple as that does. That's the difference between IT people creating business systems and business people creating business systems. Now I just need that built into my PW site with it able to automatically update the date if current dates run beyond due date which shouldnt be an issue. Do you know this software? What was it built with? Looks like a cross between Word and Excel but he's hit the nail straight on the head.
  4. ....I'm not sure if it matters or not but each task can have multiple successors and predecessors...now I'll finish.
  5. BTW, every task has a successor.... ..and a predecessor but one thing at a time Tigers!
  6. Evening lovers of the backend I have started building a "Task" template that has...you guessed it....tasklike fields. But where I need someone's *inept *aptitude and *articulation (*qualities not required...I just always wanted to put those 3 words together...you know what they say about "small things" amusing the proverbial) is to point me in the direction of how I go about my task "Dependencies"....Let me explain: Let's say I have 4 tasks each and every day in my life which are: a) "Get out of bed" b) "Look at self in mirror" c) "Yell downstairs asking loved one for the current time" d) "Go to Sleep" Now, I'm not sure about you, but in my life, these "Tasks" could happen in any particular order at any time, depending on amount of alcohol consumed the night before....I know it's a confusing tasklist but if I take it step by step and write some PW APIs at the beginning of the week, I can just have the system tell me what I am to do next and I'll get through this...Simple! So, if on a Monday, I want to set my schedule to do: b) @ 10:30am for 15 minutes (therefore having a "Start Time" of 10:30am and an "End Time" of 10:45am), followed by c) for 5 minutes (Start Time and End Times adjusted accordingly), a) for 20 minutes and d) for 15 hours then when I turn on my Surface Pro 4 (Cleverly disguised as a Pro 5 when I bought it from someone on Gumtree mind you but that's another story) in the morning, when the alarm goes at 10:30am, I follow the task "Look at Self in Mirror". After being very impressed with what I see, I click the "Complete" button on the task, but I've taken an extra 10 minutes to look at myself, so then the system needs to calibrate the times of all the following tasks before telling me to "Go to Sleep", when I awake, I hit "Complete" but I've only slept for 10 hours, so the system needs to recalibrate, again!... and then the system would tell me to "Yell downstairs, etc" and so on, all the while adjusting the following tasks according to my brute efficiency or lack of. Assuming I've spent the hours entering this exhaustive tasklist into the system at the beginning, how do I get PW to NOT treat the tasklist in a linear fashion but look for the "Successor" task(s) and adjust the tasklist according to that series of events? JA.
  7. Where do I find out what errors mean? I keep getting this error when I try to have a page use HTML: (IT is in White, for some reason I can't change the text colour) Fatal Error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function and() on null in /home2/investo5/public_html/site/templates/_main.php:49 Stack trace: #0 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/TemplateFile.php(297): require() #1 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/Wire.php(380): ProcessWire\TemplateFile->___render() #2 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/WireHooks.php(723): ProcessWire\Wire->_callMethod('___render', Array) #3 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/Wire.php(442): ProcessWire\WireHooks->runHooks(Object(ProcessWire\TemplateFile), 'render', Array) #4 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/modules/PageRender.module(514): ProcessWire\Wire->__call('render', Array) #5 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/Wire.php(383): ProcessWire\PageRender->___renderPage(Object(ProcessWire\HookEvent)) #6 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/WireHooks.php(723): ProcessWire\Wire->_callMethod('___renderPage', Array) #7 /home2/investo5/public_html/wire/core/Wire.php(442): ProcessWire\WireHooks->runHooks(Object(ProcessWire\PageRender), 'renderP (line 49 of /home2/investo5/public_html/site/templates/_main.php)
  8. OK guys, thanks for this. I have just realised I have been a bit lazy in not doing the tutorials first, more just finding something when I hit a road block. I've just had a look through the tutorial list. I've never seen a tutorial so organised and also right from the beginning. I'm going to learn some stuff so I can give you guys something harder to help me with. Thanks again Legends. JA.
  9. I have created a template called "Blank-Page" which just has a "Title" field as I wanted to put some code in to create a full page video background, which I have created a file for. I have applied the template to the page "Coming Soon" and there is no option to "View" the page. The other pages allow me to but this one.
  10. Legends of the net I have made a new Page and Template. The Template is called "Blank-Page" which just has a "Title" field and the Page is called "Coming Soon". If I am to insert some HTML or PHP or better still APIs, where do I put the code. I am trying to create a full page BG video. Gracias JA.

  12. Thanks for the response guys. I'm not sure if what I want to do with the website is classified as front end or back end. In essence it will become an "App" so to say. I want it to become my Database that will run my CRM, my Poject Management Tool, Client Reporting tool and Website all in one. I just envisaged creating the fields and relationships, then applying the formulas. The clients would be able to log in and see their financials that would be data that had come straight from the database and the Project Management tool. I have created it before using Zoho Creator but needed to self host as there are a few high profile individuals whose financials I have records of so security was paramount....I couldnt stand Creator anyway so I am wanting to reporoduce the same system but having to learn a new language again for the data manipulation. From what all you guys have said, I think I should go back to the tutorials and get a good grasp of this API before I do anything else....my "Band Aid" idea of learning this is not going to work I feel! Thanks again all....and no need to apologise Szabesz...it's OK mate.
  13. Got it Bernhard...now it's starting to make sense. Clearly I have been raised on WP, so that was my understanding of CMSs until now and the catalyst was the need to have more control over the website, mainly in the areas of field manipulation than anything else as what I am building requires some heavy hitting formulas coming from all different directions and this was the platform that I could see provided the most "Freedom" over what can be done with data. I'd imagine that it's blaringly obvious that I'm no IT guy, and to be honest, this is the first forum that I have had a question answered...or not moved or cancelled or whatever, and I have been on MANY, so I find you guys and girls have been very tolerant. Szabesz, I'm sure there is a clear distinction between module developers supporting their own modules and general module discussions but when a newcomer has a question about module and there is one section for modules, the odds would be that they would choose that one to post...and so that the newcomer wouldn't post anything else module related that shouldn't go into the module section, it would be prudent to mention to the newcomer "Why" the module related question goes into the "Getting Started" as opposed to the "Module" section...else they just end up being a 4 year olds bowling ball...with the gutter guards down the sides of the alley...or a pinball in one of the newer machines! Bernhard, thanks for clearing that up, I get it now so off to the tutorials I go. Thanks guys and girls JA.
  14. OK, I've followed Zeka's links and just did a copy and paste (with the necessary substitutions of file name), pasting the "Full Page" HTML code into the "Home Template" file using my CPanel to access it. I opened it with the txt editor and pasted the code: body, html { height: 100%; }.bg { /* The image used */ background-image: url("img_girl.jpg"); <----Replaced with the correct URL of the image /* Full height */ height: 100%; /* Center and scale the image nicely */ background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-size: cover; } Then when I went to view the page, got this: <p style='background:crimson;color:white;padding:0.5em;font-family:sans-serif;'><b>Parse Error: syntax error, unexpected &#039;,&#039; (line 10 of /home2/investo5/public_html/pw/site/templates/home.php) </b><br /><br /><small>This error message was shown because: you are logged in as a Superuser. Error has been logged.</small></p> So, my question is, where did I f it up?
