Pages manually removed from trash still retain trashed status

I'm running 3.0.200 on a site. There were pages that were trashed but because they may be needed again in the future, I manually dragged them out of the trash and into a new parent I called "offline". When I go in to edit these pages it still says they are in the trash. In other words manually dragging the page out of the trash doesn't change the page's status.

Seems like a bug but I don't know for sure if this is expected behaviour. If clicking Restore is the only way to update the page status perhaps manual dragging should be prevented in that case.
