Uncaught Error: Call to a member function setId()

We have a very basic Padloper shop setup and about 1 out of every 10 or so orders does not get recorded in the Database.  We are using PayPal as the payment gateway and it all works fine but again every once in a while the Padloper module will not capture the order.  I see in the Processwire logs the following error that directly corresponds in date and time with the order (that I see was successful paid for on our PayPay account):

Error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function setId() on boolean in /var/www/vhosts/ourdomainname.com/httpdocs/site/modules/Padloper/PadOrderProcess.php:231 

Any idea as to what might be causing this inconsistent error?
