Processwire does not remember session after closing browser

When I close the browser window, the login session is gone. I have to login everytime anew after closing and re-opening the browser (Chrome).

I do have HTTPS activated, but remembering the session should still be possible?

Yes, PW uses a session cookie, and that's how session cookies work: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie#Session_cookie

You can use the LoginPersist module to stay logged in across browser sessions.
