About Me
Hello there,
My name is Dave Hampton and I am a graphic designer and web developer with 11 years experience in the industry.
For the first 4 years of my career I trained and worked in graphic design agencies, then became self employed in 2010.
Nowadays when working freelance I undertake website project management, front end photoshop design, HTML, responsive CSS.
Usually I work with a back end developer, although I have recently completed some projects from design to completion including:
Fully custom Shopify Website with Trade and Public Features https://www.dryredpress.com/
I also work part time as a senior designer for a membership organisation, this means I still have a broad workload of Print Design, Website and Microsite Design, Email Marketing, Display Advertising.
Why am I here?
1. Over the years I have become dissatisfied with the limitations of various platforms (Static, WordPress, Joomla, SquareSpace etc)
2. I don't partially like project managing and 'overseeing' other developers work, I'd rather learn and do the work myself
3. I want to learn PHP and JQuery
4. I want to create a really good foundation for the future websites I build
5. I thoroughly researched various ways to achieve the above and found Processwire!
My first Processwire project is a Media Manager. I've been asked to create a 'non bloated' custom media manager that can be used as a job archive & image library. The site is for internal use but also has 'external' users that can search and access content based on their user account.
So far I have learned:
Config: Users, Roles and Template Permissions
Creating API forms: Log in, Forgot Password, Search, Create User via front end, including editing fields and multiselects, validation
Uploading media: Add pages via Processwire, media fields - multiple images, PDF, files, image tags, docs
Output Media: Generate Thumbnails, Styled image Tags, Media info, hi/low res downloads (PDF preview images to do)
See you on the forum!
