  1. Thank you for the good advice.
  2. Hi, I found this within an anti-CMS post (http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2015/07/9-reasons-you-should-never-use-a-cms/): "Security vulnerabilities in your chosen CMS become security vulnerabilities in your sites. Unless you have a water-tight contract, any harm caused by security vulnerabilities exposes you to litigation; when you install and use the CMS software, you (not the client) agree to a licensing agreement that specifically states that you accept all risk for using the software, you have no recourse to make any claim against the manufacturer, even if the problem was due to negligence on their part." Your thoughts?
  3. I thank both of you (Teppo and Adrian) for your thoughtful responses. As you know, getting involved with this field is a complicated proposition, I'm a retired mechanical engineer on a new start, lol. It is good to know that PW is so flexible and inclusive, although, I'm sure there are limits. My primary interests run in the areas of machine learning and data visualization. That field is exploding as you know. I am now confident that PW can play a significant role in my web site development. Thanks
  4. Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place for this topic. One of the areas I am interested in getting involved with is predictive analytics for small businesses. There is much talk about Big Data, Hadoop, Spark, etc. My studying gives me the distinct impression that these technologies are best for big business. They are overkill and unnecessarily expensive for small businesses (1-50 people). It seems that python, scikit-learn, D3.js, etc. are better suited for predictive analytics for small businesses. However, are these technologies compatible with ProcessWire and with hosting providers based upon PHP? I suspect they are not. Can they be made to work here? Are there other predictive analytics technologies better suited for ProcessWire, PHP and small businesses? Thanks
  5. Hi, In gereral, are jquery plugins compatible with PW? Thanks
  6. Hi, Yesterday I installed a 2.5 version of PW from Bitnami. It went well. Today, a 2.6 version appeared on their website. I downloaded it. As opposed to overwriting, it wanted to create a new instance. Can Bitnami be made to overwrite or is there a better way to handle PW updates? Thanks I found the answer on the PW site. Thanks
  7. Thank you. I took the Bitnami route
  8. I wouldn't be surprised, lol. Yes, both servers are running in MAMP. I didn't create any databases unless you count whatever PW did within MAMP while trying to install. Thanks
  9. Hi, I am attempting to install PW on my local Macbook. I placed the unzipped PW folder within a MAMP instance. The installation process began but stopped with a Database issue: Where do I go from here? Thanks Database connection information did not work. SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user 'robertnbrooks'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
  10. Thank you. You answered the question completely.
  11. Hi, I am considering moving to ProcessWire. It is important that I be able to connect to at least one subdomain. I would like to do this through to link from a page. Could I do this or something similar with PW? Thanks
