Yes, exactly. It's (still) a blogging platform, but for some reason considered a cms. It's like slapping a monitor onto a typewriter and calling it a computer. Well, almost

Every time i read about some new amazing feature in a CMS, it's always stuff that is a totally natural part of Processwire and has been around and used by us PW folks for ages. Read this for example. http://alistapart.com/blog/post/longform-content-with-craft-matrix And always, always!, there's some Wordpress guy in the comments saying: "You can do that with wordpress!". Yes, of course you can, but only with a bunch of ugly hacks and tweaks and 37 plugins that may play nice together if you're lucky. I have split emotions about this. A bit of sadness - Processwire should be given much more attention and recognition. At the same time, I feel lucky for having discovered it. What about you guys?
  3. Hi all, I'm developing a PW site with two languages, and have come to the point where I need to translate some static strings. I'm now trying to figure out how this works, but not sure if I really get it. In the admin language section, I added one of my template files that contains a few strings with the __() function, and was able to translate it easily. But do I really need to add every single one of my templates? Is there no way to add the whole templates folder or keep all translations in a single file? Please give me some pointers here. Thanks!
  4. Brilliant! Thanks a lot for the solution and super quick replies! As a newbie here, I'm blown away by both the capabilities of PW and the top-notch community!
  5. Hi, In short, what I'm looking for is profile pages for all registered users, that are visible to anyone visiting the site. Long version: I would like to link to the author's (user) page from a blog entry. I'm using the createdUser object to retrieve the user name, and then construct a link that looks something like this: /author/{$page->createdUser->name} Creating the link is obviously no problem, but how do I make that actual page exist without creating pages manually for all the users? Apologies if this topic has been up before. I have searched the forums, bit couldn't find an anwser. Regards, Patrik
  6. Never mind, think I found a solution. For anyone else having the same issue. Go to Setup > Templates. Choose a template, and then under family you can select Yes/no for "may pages using this template have children". There's also another option, "Can this template be used for new pages?". Brilliant! @renobird > Just found a way myself, as you can see. But your suggestion is yet another way to do it. Perfect. Thanks!
  7. Hi all, I'm new to processwire and trying to figure out if it's suitable for an upcoming project. One thing I'm wondering is if it's possible to prevent an admin user to create child pages for a certain page. Let's say I don't want anyone else but me (superadmin) to be able to create another page as a child to the home page. I want my main nav to have a set numbers of pages. I was looking into roles and permissions but couldn't find a way to do it from there. Am I missing something? All help and advice are appreciated. Thanks.
