So I figured out part of the problem. When I disable Varnish I'm no longer logged out. The strange thing is, I'm using an exact copy of my development server which is also running Varnish w/o any logout issues.

Unfortunately changing this setting didn't solve my issue. Is there any security setting which would trigger a logout? I'm saving HTML source directly to a field via AJAX and I'm wondering if the source code is triggering some kind of xss security feature.

Thanks. I did not develop the editor, it's licensed. Sir Trevor is nice, I like the simplicity, but yes, it's lacking some essential features like pictures. Are you looking for a builder? I may be able to recommend one, I've researched many.
