Is this a bug?

It used to close just the InputField in question, yeah, which I always found strange. Currently, the most up-to-date dev version I am working with is 3.0.205 which also works the way you noticed, except that there are cases when the label and icons left to the closed InputField disappear:

I personally can live with this behaviour but still would consider it a bug since it is unexpected. Inputfields should open/close independently whether they are in the same row or not.

I agree. I always considered the behaviour slightly odd as the inputfields are not necessarily related and even differ depending on the screen size.

Because in it's an overhead and it needs extra time to configure. In some situations I just like some fields beneath each other, hidden initially, especially when I'm already in a fieldset 😉
