Install Doc: Where?

Hello eveyone! I'm looking to publish online *without* learning mysql, php, apache and all that stuff. Got a referral to this site via opensuse.org forums, and opencms. So, far it seems that the only persons that can publish online while keeping content under absolute control (no hosting/outsourcing) must learn 3 - 5 additional disciplines above and beyond simply knowing how to write and use a keyboard, pen+paper, etc. Thought I wouldn't give up so......here looking at Processwire and don't find any docs...i.e. 'How to install', where to place files on server, etc. ??? Pls advise. Thanks.

Have A Healthy, Prosperous Day!

Hi Rob,

Glad to see you're not giving up and that you've ended up here. Welcome to the forum. If you didn't care about it being under your own control so much then I can think of easier ways to getting what you want published using services such as blogspot. The install documentation is in the readme file in the source code repository here. Let us know how it goes.

Hey!

Although ProcessWire is fairly simple, you won't put it to work without some effort. If you are willing to try, we will be here to help for sure.

Still, maybe you should have a look at these "put on the folder and go" self hosted CMSs

http://gpeasy.com

http://www.razorcms.co.uk/

edit: ah! by coincidence, gpEasy was referenced on another thread today :D

have a look at it http://processwire.com/talk/topic/1365-inline-editing-the-drupal-spark-way/#entry12240

Hello all at processwire , and thx for quick answers. Special thx (x2) for diogo for suggesting gpeasy; I am reading docs/downloaded files for past hour or so. This looks very promising. Will give more feedback Friday or Sat providing time allows. Yes, I realize keeping content local is a near deal breaker, but I have no way around it because of the manner in which privacy and free speech is being increasingly attacked from all sides. The Terms of Service/Pivacy agreements just give up far too much. Add to that our media which addresses far too many issues on emotion and popular conception while often overlooking (a) the truth, or (B) the individual right to disagree without promoting mistreatment (or *different* treatment) of those who stand fast in their right to disagree. Example: when reporting alleged crime --- and while a trial has not completed with a verdict----most, if not all media sources nowadays include a phrase like: ". . . and the subject did not demonstrate any remorse while in court today . . ." Problem: How in the hell can the accused 'demonstate remorse' when they (possibly) did not do --- whatever??? And so it goes. In any event, I intend to build my site from the beginning such as to anticipate spam, haters, illogical/emotional characters, and then proceed to speak my peace!! But I editorialize, eh? Again, thanks for the suggestions and links. Take Care. Have A Healthy, Prosperous Day!! ---rob
